Wee Davey on Sky from outside the AoL just gave names in frame and I am very pleased to say did not, I repeat did not mention Maclaren

    Seems 50/50 MON and Hughes

BBC sport is reporting Hughes as our number one target.

Of the experienced crop of managers, who are not completely out of our league, I'd prefer Moyes, but can't realistically see it happening. Young Ole would be my preference in the up and coming bracket.

Whoever it is I hope he is not judged after 2 games for good or bad

Hughes managed teams have seemed to me to play a negative and dull brand of football, so for that reason I would much prefer Martin O'Neil...However, if Hughes was given the job, the team will still get my full support...

I heard it's Gordon Strachan. Top bloke. Don't shoot the messenger. Maybe it's McClaren after all. Definitely someone who has been at Boro, that's what I heard that they're a bit anxious about appointed ex Boro, or maybe it's Southgate.

Agreed whitey.......but Hughes gets the job done......we need to get up this league because Hughes will not stay long 2-3 years at most but he will do, and if he gets us in the top eight for a couple of years when he goes we will be able to attract better players and managers...the only worry i have is that he is a disciplinarian and not as good a peple person as MON.But if i had to choose for the short term i would say Hughes only because i am no convinced that mon is as good as it says on the tin..but he may produce a better to watch team in the long run and if he can attract players well give him a go.........But it is a good sign that we are developing as when ricky left i dont think we could of attracted this quality ... so it does show that either the opportunities in the job market are more limited for good managers or that Bruce has done something right and improved our standing within the football world.....heres hoping we get it right thiis time!

who ever Sunderland, the manager must first replace gyan and bent !! (which hasn't been done). Sunderland are unlucky this season, they haven't played THAT badly, Sunderland need to me more clinical in front of goal :)

    good luck Sunderland

Makes you wonder with a new manager will Gyan be back?? I don't really want him myself but a new manager might have different ideas.

We need an out and out striker that can stick the ball in the net. One thing about MON is he never had that when he was at Villa. Houlier recognised the problem and bought Bent but MON was stubborn and did not see he had a problem there. That's my worry with MON but I would rather have him than Hughes.
