Won three out of three with Mayenda up front and he's scored two and pressed the **** out of our opposition. Might be time to give the lad a chance and stop declaring we must have better. It's a chance he has earned.
Just been trying to catch up as was watching sky sports last night before bed (would have been about 2 pm for most of you) and they were talking about Raheem Sterling and Ivan Toney. Went to bed and got up this morning and they were still going on about the same players. Sky coverage is absolute dog **** now. Just seen we have 4 new players and to be honest I think in general the window has been good. I know every one wants a recognised striker to lead the line, and I am no different but I am always willing to see how the new additions do. The new midfielder Samed looks to be a bit of a coup and hopefully he will ad a bit to an already good midfield. Mepham is a solid signing and will ad experience and stability in the back line and the other 2 are a little bit of unknown. The season should be interesting.
Wilson Isidor is a 1 in 3 striker with 150 games to his name many of which are at top flight level. I can't get my head around what we wanted if he isn't it.
Kristjaan Speakman added: “We are delighted to welcome Sallis to Sunderland. He’s a defensive midfielder player, who is disciplined in and out of possession. He is a different profile within our midfield, and we believe he will relish the battles that come with playing in a league like the Sky Bet Championship. Sallis’ experiences in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League will stand him in good stead, as we support him in transitioning to English football.” Kristjaan Speakman: “We are delighted to welcome Ahmed to Sunderland. He is a natural centre forward, who enjoys playing in central areas, in addition to being an excellent finisher. He has an impressive goalscoring record at youth level and he recently stepped up into Gent’s senior team. We will give him time to settle and support him in that process, but he will bring immediate competition to our attacking line and we look forward to seeing him grow with us throughout the season and beyond. Kristjaan Speakman added: “Milan is an incredibly talented young player, who is on the fringe of national team selection. We appreciate his creativity and versatility but understand that we’ll need to be patient as he adapts to a new country and a new Club. Although we will not rush his involvement, his progress to date and talent means that we firmly believe he can become an important player for Sunderland in the future. Attracting a talent like Milan underlines our progress as a Club and our continued track record in nurturing talent in an elite environment, which is a testament to our staff behind the scenes at the Academy of Light.” Kristjaan Speakman added: “We are delighted to welcome Chris to Sunderland. This is an area we wanted to strengthen before the deadline and Chris has shown that he can play at this level and beyond. He has demonstrated an ability to perform consistently throughout his career and we are confident he will take this move in his stride. In addition to the defensive qualities he will bring to our defence, he will also add experience. This will be invaluable on the field and in the dressing room.”
I think he will be an excellent striker for us and I am buzzing for the rest of the season. We are the form team in the league with what seems to be a progressive system and we are playing in a fluid aggressive style, scoring goals and not conceding. Granted it is only 3 games into a long season but what's not too like about Sunderland at the minute I am loving it.
Just watched a highlight video on YouTube. The lad can clearly finish and seems to have a knack of getting into the right positions.
Im pretty pleased with the outcome and am really optimistic for the rest of the season. I reckon our best signing this summer may turn out to be the manager.
We're a Championship side, recently L1, and self financing to a great degree. The Stewart and Clarke money has redressed the balance of our running costs and expenditure but that's soon swallowed up. Fortunately we're creating a bit of a production line so the likes of Ekwah, Hemir, etc, will help. I loved all the madness with Short, etc, but it couldn't last and we all knew it tbh ... ... I'm enjoying watching young lads, I'd never heard of, arrive, find their feet and become Bellinghams and Mundles. All good fun if you accept things for what they are, not what you'd want them to be.
Overall it feels like a positive window so credit where it is due but I still remain concerned at their inability to get the main striker targets over the line…..lot of pressure on Isidor and mayenda now HTFL
You can please some of the people all of the time, All of the people some of the time, But some people will always be miserable barstewards. Good window for me, especially if we make a profit on Hemir
Cheers mate, pleased that's all over and we can get back to the football ... ... these lads must be excited to be coming to Sunderland.
