But FFP works differently in L1, I think there's a soft cap limiting you to only spending a certain percentage on wages but nothing on transfer fees. Yes, they've paid a premium but if he gets them back into the Championship, and then well up the league in the Championship, it's worth it. He'll still have a high sell-on value too. If you've got the opportunity to sign someone of his quality and can afford to do so. I don't think overpaying is a major issue. It's not like he's at the tail end of his career
As gutted as I am about a striker not arriving, I am very pleased we got Kamara and another winger. Our performances so far have cried out for more width and bravery out wide. It should allow Omur back in the middle too. Let’s not write off Bedia and Burstow yet too. They are unproven at this level but it doesn’t mean they won’t be good.
I have no idea how we're going to lineup, but I genuinely think that is a young an exciting team. We're short a striker and arguably a defensive midfielder, but on the whole I've been quite pleased with the business we've done this window. We've undergone a complete squad overhaul, brought the average age down and got rid of some high earners. The shear amount of change, coupled with Tims unique style could be a disaster, but could also lead to one of the more exciting seasons in recent times.
Frustrating that I'm sat here so deflated after bringing in so many decent players. This morning I said I would be happy with a winger, Meffert and a striker, we brought in 4 players but failed in 2 of the 3 I felt most important. The additional disappointment is that it's an exact repeat of last year with regards to the striker and thats pretty poor. To the clubs credit, there was plenty good in terms of what we have brought in so all in all it's a decent window but any hope at all of a promotion push is surely very slim without somebody quality leading the line.
Looking at this team, there’s a **** load of potential. And if we can get lots of chances into the box from the wings, we only need the strikers to convert a few of them each game.
Keeping hold of Giles is something not to be under-rated, assuming he now knuckles down a little more than he already has.

Deadline Day is perfect for a Brucie Bonus signing, but not for trying to mould key parts of your side. Belloumi is the perfect example, he's been linked to some top sides this summer and we wouldn't have got near him 6 weeks ago, but he's become available and we've got him. We've also not got any youngsters out on loan so Vaughan, TSF, Tinsdale, TLT, and Smith stagnate for 6 months. And Acun has got to stop lying/bending the truth. And I'm not talking about this high profile striker either. He'll get a **** load of criticism when people figure it out and it seems to snowball. It's quite funny though, we've spent £10m today and there's a **** load of criticism. Football is just odd
We alluded to this earlier in the thread, but it's a strange reality that City almost always lack a proper, proven striker. Some teams seem to have a constant production line of them. We very rarely see a striker score 15 goals, let alone 20. We very rarely sign a striker who is known to be successful at the level we're playing at. And we very rarely spend significant money on a striker. It's strange that all of these themes persist over the years and compliment each other. Even with Acun seeming desperate to buy big-name strikers it for some reason still can't happen. Baffling. I feel like we've signed variants of Bedia and Burstow types dozens of times over the years, sometimes they come off (and I do have a bit of faith in Burstow, particularly under Walter) but generally they underwhelm and leave with a similar record that they came with.
The sad thing is, for all his faults, I’m pretty sure Oscar would have scored a bag full this season had he stayed, with the way we’re playing and supplying early deliveries into the box behind the defence. For fine margins he could quite easily have been on 4 or 5 already and we’ve played absolutely ****. Yea I know he wanted to leave but he was here and our player, management either needs to convince him to stay or find a replacement. They did neither.
1. People are furious that we signed a third goalkeeper. It’s going to piss one of them off. 2. People are furious we didn’t sign a third centre forward. It leaves us woefully short. Some folk just love a moan.
