After seeing him play in the last couple of games i really feel like he has contributed to the losses, i know we should really be scoring more but just wondering if you guys agree with me?
Sorry not good enough and we should be looking at bringing someone else in when the window opens in jan.
There are a couple of good keepers in the Aussie league especially Ante Covic the guy with the Melbourne side Harry Kewell is playing for.
We've just had this debate... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/104858-Why-Is-Basso-Not-In-Goal-For-Us-Anymore/page2
I wonder how much has to do with a lack of confidence based on language and communication. As a Liverpool and Hungarian international keeper, I cannot accept that he is not good enough for championship football
I understand what you are saying mussie but he's a Liverpool goalkeeper in contract only. He's never played any first team football for them and his experience of the english game has come from Liverpool reserves and about 30 games split between Hereford and Tranmere in L2 and L1. Liverpool must have seen something in him but they subsequently brought in Brad Jones as back up to Reina and it seems the main reason Gulasci ever even made the Liverpool bench was because Jones went to play in some international tournament. The fact that both Jones and Gulasci have since gone out on loan to be replaced with yet another back up to Reina hardly inspires confidence that they have a knack for talent spotting in that position!
He has played for Liverpool, he played two Europa League games, both of which they won 2-0 and he was on the bench for most of the games in the second half of last season.
He was on the bench for both of those games vs Rabotnicki. It was Cavalieri who started both those games. The point about him being on the bench is pretty irrelevent if he never made an appearance and as my post suggested, the only reason he even made the bench was because Brad Jones went off with Australia. His career stats say he has never made a first team appearance for Liverpool
He does not appear to inspire any confidence in the players or the supporters. We do need to look at getting a goalkeeper in during the January window.
Thinking of starting a thread 'Why is Gulacsi starting'. Nothing like a bit of variety to spice things up.
i wonder if there is some kind of penalty (financial I mean) clause in the loan contract based on a defined number of games? Is Mark Oxley STILL injured or is he destined to be moved on with the Brown/Duffen brigade when his contract expires? For what it is worth, I ve seen both Joe Cracknell and Rory Watson (of the academy I believe) play for the reserves this season and neither looked out of place, the latter being particularly impressive against 'The Heed' at North Ferriby recentlly. I also see that we seem to be pursuing trials with Rob Peet, once of Grimsby and touted by Man Utd I think?
imo, i think the BIG problem is his communication with the back 4. basso is always vocal Gulacsi is not. its simple to sort out and thats wot McDonaugh needs to get sorted and quick. but if there is a problem between PG and the defence then NB for sure will get that sorted out in Jan. NB is no fool and knows what he is doing. Just for now there is nothing he can do. this run of games that PG is on will either improve him or finish him @ hull city.
I'm hazarding a guess that since Basso has been on the bench for the last couple of games he will be good to start the next match, if he does I think it will be the end of his time at city whether NB thinks he is worth kepping as cover or not. Liverpool will want him getting game time and if they are allowed, not sure about a recall clause, I expect them to try and sort out another loan move for him.
