Benfica offered him a new deal, having had him several years and Juve went after him, twice. And folk still insist there isn’t a player in there? ****ing hell. Good luck to the lad.
With Hemir, he obviously has the pedigree to suggest there is a good player somewhere in there, the problem seemed to be desire or lack thereof, perhaps flopping so badly this early in his career can be the motivation/kick-up-the-arse he needs to sort himself out and reach his potential.
I think this Abdullahi is a red herring. He’s not the “new striker” we’re after - just an additional new prospect.
He has never had a run and he had his confidence destroyed by Mowbray. We can’t judge **** from what we have seen. Benfica judged him over something like 8 years. I fancy Benfica know how to judge a player, they have a tiny bit of previous. He had nowt to go at here. He leaves, for me, as a ‘nothing to report’ not a failure. You have to have a chance to fail.
Yeah he must be, surely we won’t close the window without bringing in a first team striker with abit of experienced
I tend to view all the 'heart' and 'desire' stuff as a load of nonsense tbh. Usually it's a misunderstanding of what is actually happening. There's nowt wrong with Hemir's desire - just as there's nowt wrong with Ekwah's. The issue may be one of focus, fitness or understanding of the role, but to describe the player as making a conscious choice not to put it in is IMO bollocks. Football fans would be clutching their pearls if someone was to suggest that a lack of noise in a stadium was down to a lack of heart or desire on the fans part. The reality is that apart from very isolated cases, these lads are trying.
