Yeah I’m happy with this. PL experience and at the very least provides depth on the wings which we needed. Expect it might take him a while to get up to speed but hopefully he’s hungry to prove himself again in the hunt for a new club. If he can find his form again he’ll be a starter for us.
In terms of genuine wide players (so not counting Arma or BBD) he would clearly be our best winger. Miles ahead of Edozie, better than Sam Amo and also better than Fraser should we sign him too.
Bit of a worrying trend emerging! I was concerned with Archer in the Cardiff game, I could see him shaping up to shoot as he approached the penalty area and I was was literally screaming at the telly for god sake stop, just put your foot on the ball and pass it back into midfield, surely that's the only way we can recycle the ball back to the goalie and thence to the opposition. Admittedly he did score but only at the expense of losing pocession....frankly I despair.
I was very similar. Just after Cardiff equalised for the first time we had the ball and I was screaming at the TV: “Pass it around aimlessly at the back!” But they decided to pass it forward in a series of frankly irresponsible one touch passes and then Sam Amo - who will undoubtedly never play for us again - hit the ball first time rather than retain possession. And don’t get me started on that monstrous ball wasting by Bree at the game’s end…
His ceiling is high if he can regain that form, and a seriously precocious talent at his best. Bonkers player, but I highly rate him - been a long while since we've had a serious wildcard at Saints. Everyone's been pretty bland personality-wise for a while, and whilst that probably works for such a system-based format as Russball, putting someone like Cornet in amongst the mix is an exciting gamble for me. He's proven PL quality too, and as someone else said, at 27 and post-West Ham and on loan, he has a point to prove.
What’s the Costa this transfer? Hopefully his English is good so he doesn’t have difficulty espressoing himself.
I have heard that he goes to ground too easily. Hopefully the deal is Nero to completion and we aren’t too latte.
