Given the relative distances involved to see (mostly) reserves on a Tuesday evening just after the Bank Holiday, I'm amazed any Plymouth fans came - let alone less than Franchise FC - all credit to them.

Fans ain't what they used to be - I remember hitch-hiking to Plymouth for a Tuesday night match in 1969.

Their biggest gun was Aguero who played the whole game - he hit a second half hat trick. Rather alarmingly, our keeper that day was Jonathon Bond, who gave City the lead when he made a pig's ear of saving an Aguero shot.

I'd forgotten that we later signed one of the City players from that game - he turned out to be a bit of a dud.

I can remember back in the 78-79 season a Third division club called Watford were drawn away to Man United in the third round under a promising young manager called Graham Taylor

The First division giants scored first and that was that except an unknown young striker called Luther Blisset scored two goals and put Watford through to the fourth round

While I do not expect history to repeat itself there is always at least one major upset in these cup competitions every year

It's not the hope that kills you it is not having any hope that leaves you dead in the water

And a couple of seasons later came that never-to-be-forgotten Southampton game, as well as the demolition job on the then current European Champions Nottingham Forest the following month.

We can do it - we can do it - we can do it....

Those were the days when we were one of the most popular underdogs, and then we got promoted and stuffed all the tops teams we were suddenly the unpopular long ball kick and rush merchants playing 4 - 2 -4

Most of the top teams now play 4 - 2 - 3 -1 now apart from the fact we had the best two wingers and a golden boot winning forward can anyone explain the real reason why 4 - 2 - 3 -1 is different to our version of 4 - 2 - 4 apart from the fact we were more entertaining

I was there, and had money on us to win 2-0. With us winning 2-0 at halftime, we were braced for the best night out ever if it had stayed that way! I remember the odds on us winning 2-0 were longer than city winning 10-0.
