Never a good sign when the selling/loaning club are desperate to make it permanent <laugh>

Vickery was just on Sky and was asked about Alberto as part of it... he was actually fairly complimentary

Said he looked good in Europe before with Zenit. A bit up and down in his career so far admittedly, but said he is quick for a big striker, he can play wide too but normally wants to play on the shoulder through the middle. He's a mobile striker, good at getting in behind and stretching defences

The player wants the move to Southampton, the stalling point currently is that Corinthians want an obligation not an option. But they’re in a bad financial situation

Southampton are already doing business in Brazil with Flamengo and São Paulo - signing Victor Hugo, Juan, Welington so clearly scouting in the country

Final thoughts: can see the fit for what Southampton need to add and gut feeling is that there’s a good chance it’ll happen

By that logic wouldn’t every signing we ever made not be good as all selling clubs want the player to move? It’s probably because they’d quite like to be able to book some income and be able to do some financial planning.

That’s disappointing. So no central hold up striker it seems. Unless there is one being worked on secretly. I wonder what sunk this one? Another failed “Saint” thread on the cards it seems :-(

We weren't expected to purchase Ramsdale for £25m either, so I'm going to keep my hopes up for another 24hrs that we get some presence in our front line...

Maybe because this deal fell through we decided to put all our money into Ramsdale

Original plan was Bijlow and Alberto for circa the Ramsdale fee, then we changed to just Ramsdale when those deals couldn’t be worked out

Not long left to find out

I was just thinking that too, I don't hate it too much if that's the case but hopefully we can swing a decent loan or two before the deadline. Or a loan and a Wee Man

As has been the case all window, it will depend on out goings. It will depend on whether bids, whether loan or transfer, come in for ABK, Onuachu, Sulemana, Manning and maybe even KWP.
