Re Blur They're absolutely class. The latest album is superb and The Narcissist is a ridiculously good track
I think the simple explanation for that Smug, is for those of us who do love them, it wasn’t just about the band and the music. Oasis v Blur really was some lads like us v some posh kids, I didn’t get involved in any of that to be honest I was more concerned who was on at Shindig. Oasis were a band a LOT of people bonded over. Then whiny vocals were incredibly jaunty choruses, but actually the words to many of the tracks absolutely reminded you of people and times you know and when music does that it’s beautiful. My music taste was always and absolute melting pot due to the setup at home. Dad was into rock, Mam was into Motown and Whitney and early dance music. Sister listened to all kinds of mad lairy ****. For me, it was a time when I was starting work and making new pals, many of them I still have to do, many of them with personalities and backgrounds I’d not really mingled with. As an example of the unifying nature of it, there’s a few lads from a past job, we were a class group mint craic all got on then drifted as we got older, who for all haven’t lost touch fully due to socials, haven’t seen in person for years. Straight away, a group chat appears and we all planning a meet up. I don’t personally know of many other bands who have such strong moments in people’s lives that that would happen, that have you step away from your current life and think back to them days. Like I said right at start of this thread, it wasn’t really about the band and the music fully, it was a sweeping change in some social environments that crossed them lines and brought folk together in many ways. I doubt there’s many people in the 38-50 age range that even if they aren’t fans, aren’t incredibly engaged in this happening. Even if you didn’t like Oasis, you’ll absolutely remember those days. They are a historic, significant and polarising band and that’s really what makes them special If anyone on earth wants to listen to ‘Slide Away’ and say it’s not an utterly magnificent piece of music then I’d be gobsmacked. You even ended up pals with people cos they didn’t like them, cos of that debate.
I was at a restaurant last night and the waiter asked which soup I wanted . . . . tomato or Oasis. "What's the difference ?" I asked. "If you order the Oasis soup you get a roll with it."
Think anyone who doesn’t get an email post 9am won’t get it. Sure they said all ballot winners would be notified by then.
This has just been extended to 5pm tomorrow. Pricing for the tickets is now on the ticket sites. £148.50 inc booking fee. ****ing hell
That’s not far off most nowadays to be fair last couple thing I’ve been to been north of £100 for major tours.
World we live in sadly mate. Cost of putting things on is crazy nowadays. Transport up, energy up, insurance up, venue hire up. It will cost millions per night to run these shows.
It's just too much for me mate. £450 for me to take my son, daughter and myself to a gig is just obscene
Totally get that mate. Then transport, digs. I’m expecting it to cost similar to a Wembley weekend. Last one all told was about 2 grand. Self inflicted but worth every penny.
Really think the prices are much better than I expected. It's really good value compared to most other artists to offer a seat at a tour of this magnitude for 75 notes. Really good. Standing at 150 is what I pitched previously. It's absolutely in line with other artists and cheaper than most.
It's also going to be a full day thing. Not just oasis. The support will be very decent with 2 or 3 well known bands. I don't think anyone can complain. Maybe blur fans will.
No way am I paying that like, seen them 3 times including twice in the year the split up and for their last gig. Would love to see them again but not at any cost. Hotels will be inflated too. That's me out
