I disagree, I think they all had a low bar set and failed to get to it. Hence being on Spanish s sh*t list
It’s usually Leeds who have the banana skin in this competition. Worse thing for you guys, three consecutive defeats, losing can become an easy habit in the PL, confidence drains pretty quickly
Problem with buying as many players as we have is that it takes time to gel them into a team. I have no doubt that Kmc will do so but how quickly? I think Saturday is now a huge match for us. Need a win to get the monkey off our back and we can start settling in to the season
We don’t need a win Saturday anymore than we would if it were our opening game. I think this result does a favour for Saturday. Tonight showed that the new players have to work to prove themselves worthy of the shirt. It also showed us again that Johnson has more work to do than most.
Well, that wasnt in the script! But our record in Cup games is checkered. Not too downbeat as most of these players had never played together before, let alone got used to KMs system. While obviously disappointing, there were signs of premier promise. Minutes in legs, takes time to gel, it will be interesting to see our starting X1 Saturday. Can we kick start our season at PR? I will take a point!
Not an awful performance but not a great one either. Definitely some concerns about the number of players we are integrating into the team but to be fair with the injuries we've had and 2nd team players we've got rid of I can see why we've brought so many in. I think you could hear an air of frustration in Chaplins voice that things have been overhauled with the numbers coming in. Plus Burgesses performance worried me slightly, he's been outstanding for us for 2 seasons, I can't remember him missing a set piece header and then he does 2 in one night. I thought no one played badly but also there weren't any outstanding performances. Says how well Morsy has done that we're not as good in midfield without him, Phillips and Cajuste looked okay but they didn't demand the ball like Morsy does and probe in the same way, I was also surprised with which way round they played I assumed Phillips would play in Luongos positions and Cajuste in Morsys. The biggest positive for me was the left hand side which we've struggled with so far this season. Clarke came in and effectively did the Broadhead role very well. I like the fact he holds onto the ball, we've lacked someone in those forward positions like that. Also I thought Townsend slotted in well at left back.
Haha you think we have escaped the asylum... Some of your fans think you will be challenging for a European slot three years from now
