True, but apparently it was claimed (SWF)months back that Ramsdale was at Saints while Lallana was having his medical. Obviously not picked up on the press, all though now I’m typing I think that it what you meant by rumours. Oh god, it’s happening isn’t it. I’m catching something from Greg
All right calm down, I mentioned you Have you recently joined here btw? edit: member for 10 years, been pretty sparing with the posts.. Or seen how the threads are modded
Only joking lads. I never actually thought we had a proper chance so just chuffed it's seemingly happening. Bijlow failing his medical could be a blessing in disguise. Yes I've been here a long time but more of a lurker. One forum is largely enough for me.
I seem to recall that claiming that someone is good for the dressing room has been tried before, with 'mixed results', put euphemistically.
Would be nice to have a few leaders across the pitch though. Ramsdale, Downes, maybe jwp if he does come back.
Be funny if all this “we’re skint” chat has been a smokescreen and we were just waiting for selling clubs to lower prices a bit at the end of the window. Sign JWP and 2 wingers for £100m combined on deadline day
If we can afford it then that would certainly be a good thing. Mixed bag really as it seems like West Brom aren’t going to do that - if that Fellows link is even true and wasn’t just something to flush out the actual interested parties of Everton and Ipswich But Arsenal wanted 30m for Ramsdale. Or 5m loan fee plus 25m. So that one has come down. Expect if West Ham do want to move on JWP the price will have to come down. And same with players we don’t have a chance for like Toney. And I guess some of the Chelsea ones
There is also the possibility that the board have changed their mind and gone down the “**** PSR” route and decide to spend anyway and deal with the consequences later. From their perspective staying in the PL is so important from a financial point of view. They can say all the “keep the club financially safe” etc in the press but behind the scenes they might have seen the first 2 PL games and reality has hit home about how much is needed to stay up. I don’t think we will spend much more/anything more after Ramsdale. Can see Fraser joining and that’s it, hopefully another attacking player on loan as well
Few rumours of Manning going to Leeds. Would probably suit him as didn’t even get in the pitch last night.
For all the angst and moaning, we'll likely end this window having spent £130m. 10+ players in the first team squad. And spent it pretty well from where I'm sat. We will still have a massive up hill battle to stay up which says more about the strength and money in the PL than anything we can control, tbh. Sure I'd always like more but equally pleased to see the club run in the right way and back in the big time, however short lived.
Bit of a balancing act the fullbacks whilst we don’t know if KWP will still be here or not. We have Taylor, Manning, Larios on the left and Sugawara and Bree on the right with KWP able to play both sides. If we have internally said he’s not going now this late in the window when we’ve seen (once again) how much PL quality he brings to the side, then we have too many full backs. A loan for Larios (assuming he’s tentatively over his injuries) should happen regardless, but imagine we’d only sell Manning should we keep KWP.
Sort of (once) transfer related, but Hurzeler just did his presser, and said Matt O'Riley faces a lengthy spell out, requiring surgery on his ankle after that challenge earlier in the week.
