You know if we really avoid the hyperbole and look at everything incredibly objectively, then there's a few things need remembering: - We were £65m down in June 2024. Had we tried to buy a quality right winger, we'd be God knows how much further in the red and would have been left with no choice but to flog Gordon, Bruno or Isak. - Sponsorships are being held back, though challenged by Man City, which would have significant ramifications for us; it's probably more likely that, even if the PL lost, they would drag it on and on past 1st September so that Newcastle United couldn't benefit. - Brighton have sold about £350m worth of players/managers in the past few years. Our selling - because Ashley lumbered us with absolute garbage on long deals - has been atrocius. Howe's not beyond reproach, mind - he extended Miggy's contract as well as a few others (Lascelles), but again let's go back to point and the selling point to remember we had no ****ing money thanks to the PL. - Also on Brighton, they have the greatest scouting system in the World, which is the sole property of Tony Bloom. Everyone else uses something called YScout or Wescout or something. And it has to be also remembered that Harrison, Sanusi, Murphy and Heffernan have all arrived and look good; remember Mitchell's previous quotes that he wants 2/3 youth players coming through every season, because that's how we make money. Minteh x 2, then we keep the best one. Look at City and Alvarez or Palmer, THAT'S the blueprint, but it'll take ****ing ages to get there. - Stadium point, Newcastle literally just said they were going to announce soon (probably timing it with the crap window to bring some feelgood in) and were "writing a very big cheque". I think, for all my ire at the club responding too slowly to the restrictions and being too limited in transfer scope, we're not stagnating. This will be a difficult season, and may be one of consolidation. But soon enough things will start to transform to the next level. If by next season our average place over three years is 6th (4th, 7th and then 7th/8th), THEN it's time to kick on. Do I feel we shoud have a new RW and RCB? Yes, I don't know why it's been mismanaged so badly particularly given the visible impact of losing Minteh and Anderson. Is it the end of the world and we're up for sale?! Not a chance.
Reckon it will be Barnes Isak and Gordon tonight. Tonali, Joelinton and Bruno. Trippier, Krafth, Kelly and Burn (just to give people something to moan about ) Dubravka
Welcome to the Board. You might need to change your username as it's very similar to an existing poster.
The team sheets are going to be required for any kind of reasonable prediction. This is why I have gone with a defeat.
