A bravely borne illness that must've played on his mind from his terminal prognosis but he somehow managed to show such huge resilience, fight and dignity...Doffs cap.

    R.I.P Sven.

"Don’t be sorry, smile. Thank you for everything, coaches, players, the crowds, it’s been fantastic. Take care of yourself and take care of your life. And live it. I had a good life. I think we are all scared of the day when we die, but life is about death as well." RIP Sven

Wasn't that the title of Heskey's book?
Shows a good sense of humour..

    RIP
The actor John Clegg, who has died aged 90, became well known to British audiences thanks to his role as the piano-playing Gunner “La Di Da” Graham in the David Croft and Jimmy Perry sitcom It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, which ran for eight series between 1974 and 1981, achieving 17 million viewers at the height of its popularity.

Svennis, absolute hero back in Sweden, plenty of good documentaries with him, always comes across as a very genuine person.

The clip is obviously in Italian with Swedish subtitles, but the reaction from Alessandro Nesta says alot. It's when Sven visited Italy during his last months
I quickly translated the Swedish subs, so might be some dodgy translations.

    Nesta calls him "Mister"

    Nesta:"Grande Mister Grande Mister"
Sven:"You're grande, the world's best defender"
Nesta:"The memories we have Mister, the Scudetto..."

Reporter: "What does this moment mean for you?"

Nesta: "Wait a second, I'm so emotional right now"
    Sven: "Nooo"
Nesta: "What Mister told me is to treat people well. As a youngster, I was bit of a hothead. He taught me to treat others well, because when I treated me well, I performed the best. I think that's what you gotta do to bring the best out of people"
Reporter to Sven: What are your thoughts?
Sven: "He was young, and the captain. He was the worlds best centre defender and also a fantastic human. All the players were ofcourse important, but he meant a lot to Lazio, when we won the Scudetto and everything else we won during a couple of few years. He's amazing, amazing.
Nesta: I was a kid when Mister appointed me as captain. I asked if he really wanted to give me such responsibility. But how much fun we had and such a strong team"
Sven: It was a very strong squad, the strongest I had in my whole career.
Nesta: Grande Mister. I promised myself not to cry, but this is how it went"

    Vila i frid, Sven <rose>

Juan Izquierdo has died at the age of 27, days after collapsing during a game in Brazil, according to his Uruguayan club and South American football's governing body.

The club, Nacional, posted a statement on social media saying Izquierdo's death is felt 'in deep pain and impact in our hearts' and 'all Nacional is in grief for his irreplaceable loss.'

South American soccer's governing body also posted a tribute, just days after he collapsed on the field and was rushed to hospital, before the team announced he was in a 'stable condition'.

Just watched Sven, it was more emotional than I thought it would be, and it made me think well of man, from humble beginnings, who lived his life well. Yes, he made mistakes, we all do.

RIP Svennis, the world is a poorer place without you <rose><rose><rose><peacedove>
