Haha, I had an ask and all I was told was that Ramsdale has been even more prickly/moody than he normally is. But nothing on where he may end up. Wolves still sniffing but I still have a sneaky feeling for Forest, having seen their options at the weekend were Sels and Turner...
Chelsea in for Toney, hopefully Brentford don’t sell and bring some players in in time for our game Saturday. Not that it will make much difference anyway
I was thinking just now how we are all desperate to sign a striker and are willing to sign at 15m ish an unproven striker in the Premier League. You know we can just save 15 million if we want to play a 15 million unproven striker and play Ross Stewart?
As I mentioned yesterday the main thing about the Alcaraz deal if you are concerned about the price, is that what we got for Alcaraz is less than what we would get for Onuachu and ABK combined. Unless we are after like 2/3 more on top of Alberto and Bijlow than selling ABK and Onuachu would’ve given us the funds for those 2. The fact we sold Alcaraz for that “low” price indicates those 2 aren’t close to leaving otherwise we might have held tight with Alcaraz. Those 2 might still leave and then we have a bit more flexibility if we do want to bring in anyone else, probably in January. I’m sure we still want them to go, just see how badly in the last few days
I know they will sell Toney, they will then buy some more players. I was saying hopefully they don’t register the players in time to play against us on Saturday
Ah I see. It looks like Toney is going down to the wire as clubs try to knock down the fee - which they will probably succeed at. And they’ve potentially already spent a chunk anyway. How many big sales have they actually had since coming up. The new striker and two Liverpool players are probably a fair part of the expected Toney money. Indeed they could be in a spot of bother if they don’t sell him
Possibly. I don’t recall them spending big prior to this season and I can’t imagine their wage bill was very high because of that, so maybe just being in the PL for the last 3(?) years with the money that comes with that allowed them to splash a bit this summer. As we’ve said before who really knows how the finances work at a football club
On fees they are currently sitting at -€160m over the last three years. Now perhaps amortisation and a low wage bill meaning higher base profit makes this work out broadly ok. But I don’t think those things quite get you all the way there. They haven’t had much in sales so far
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cje2ze1qgjpo Wolves out of the race for Ramsdale but it doesn’t say why
Gosh my headache is worse than I realised. Just scanned right over that part. And then when I missed that I just saw that the permanent fee was lower than I expected so assumed cost couldn’t have been the factor But up front free and wages almost certainly the issue. Didn’t somewhere say they wanted 5m up front
