I'm sorry but how was he active? He wasn't even moving. Anyhow, in the end the correct decision was made <ok>

    P.s. Your still wrong.

I'm right, your wrong, and there is nothing you can do about it...mu-ha-ha-ha-haaaa

<laugh> it doesn't mean literally moving! that said, if it hadn't been a foul the goal would have, somewhat unsportingly, stood.

agreed, the right decision was made for the foul.

I know that it doesn't mean literally moving, but if an attacker was there then people would say he was not 'active', surely in this case, this is the same with the defender, that's what I'm saying (does that make sense?)

oh ok, i'm with you now. i think the issue lies with the fact that the defender is playing everyone onside whereas a striker in the same situation doesn't have that problem. as i've said, for my money such a player (if a defender) would very much be active but if it hasn't come from a foul there's nothing the ref can do and the goal stands.

I understand where you are coming from, but I personally think that if someone if injured that they are not active. Agree to disagree (twice in the same article) I suppose. <ok>

    P.s. Your wrong as well <whistle> <laugh>

Ooooo no, whats your view on it? Why should it have been given?

P.s. If you didn't know, they didn't allow it was a foul, not the offside malarky.

It shouldn't of been given no, as the official was clearly trying to get the referee's attention about the injured player, but I'm telling my spurs mate that it should have been given.

ok i'm going to have one last attempt for i believe all hope is not lost with you.

    A goal is scored!

If a striker is in an offside position but is inactive in play he is ignored so the offside isn't given. However if he is deemed to be 'active' then offside is applied and the goal doesn't stand.

    Now, we reverse the situation.

    A goal is scored.

If a defender is in a position where he is the only player playing the goalscorer onside but is 'inactive' in play then he (as the inactive striker was in the previous example) is ignored so the offside is called (as the striker is now offside). However if he is deemed to be 'active' then the striker isn't offside and the goal does stand.

as the rules state that in such a situation a goal would stand that must mean any defender is active in play <ok>

Good decision. I also thought the penalty was very harsh, not much else the defender could do to keep his hand out the way.

I understand what your mean, completely, I just don't think it is correct. <ok>

The player couldn't help where he was injured and in my eyes was NOT active. However I can see that I may be the only person who believes in this <laugh>
