Nick Pope needs replacing too if they intend to try and use him as if he can pass. He makes everyone in the back like nervous when he's on the ball... surely Howes ability to make players better should have dealt with that ? The truth is that certain players are not good enough and the manager can't turn water into wine... the improving players notion is hocus pocus. He's had 500 million, the takeover left a wave of positivity and everything in the clubs facilities has been advanced.
Then there would need to be a parting of the ways, sooner rather than later, because we're not signing anyone, the believable rumours are pretty much 100% mundane and we'd again fail to strengthen where we are crying out for it (RW).
This is a managerial issue then because they're following his instructions. It seems to me that when the sides doing something well it's Howe's greatness and if the side plays badly it's the players. The very opposite to previous managers who were blamed for absolutely everything. Let's just be real here ! Nick Pope is the worst keeper in the league with his feet and the instructions are to use him as if he isn't.
I think this is the season Howe gets found out. I still think he will be leave before Jan and Mitchell will then be free to recruit who he wants. With Murphy, Miggy, Kraft, Lascelles and Dubs still getting 1st team minutes, the mind boggles why you would chase a £70M CB when you could buy a £35M CB and and £35M RW. Buying Star players is great but if that star player then gets injured you are back to the above. The above should not be starting games 3.5 years after the takeover, its just absurd.

There's only one direction under this manager and it's backwards now I feel. The clubs and it's recruitment at this point is without too much disrespect being run by a small time manager. He's finding nothing.....big money signings are anyones game.

We're going to have a rough season it's really very simple. It's all part of the journey, but this struggle has to happen. They'll replace the manager , freshen things up and kick on properly in a year or 2. If anyone wants to argue otherwise then fine but I can actually guarantee it.
This is all likely true. Once the window closes though, if we haven't strengthened the starting 11 at RW and CB, but have committed a sizeable sum of next summer's budget to signing a sub GK in Trafford, that would appear to be poor work.
Howe clearly thinks all he needs is a cb! I suspect finishing 4th had not only fooled the fanbase into thinking he'd turned water into wine, but also the manager himself. The good season has proved a poisoned chalice !
