Everton is my guess. West Ham are ready to offload England midfielder James Ward-Prowse, 29, before Friday's transfer deadline. (Teamtalk)
No that it should matter but JWP would be a VERY RM player. Suits the style perfectly and could play any of the midfield positions. He's also never injured, brings leadership and is Saints through and through. Takes a decent set piece too. You can argue whether he is a top player or not but I don't think any of the aboce is in any real question. I'd take him back in a heartbeat but I can't see him being a priority for us. Think we'll add a left footed right winger, an underwhelming CF and a GK and that will be that.
I thought I’d have a look at which PL outfield players are yet to play this season (excluding those who are injured or recently signed): Arsenal: Kiwior, Jorginho, Nketiah (Nelson has played two minutes) Villa: Buendia, Carlos, Hause Bournemouth: Aarons, Anthony, Hill Brentford: Toney, Yarmolyuk (Mee has played one minute) Brighton: Lamptey, Moder, Igor (Sarmiento has played eight minutes) Chelsea: Lukaku, Chilwell, Sterling, Chalobah, Broja, Casadei, Chukwuemeka, Datro Fofana Palace: Franca, Ward, Holding, Clyne (Schlupp has played eight minutes) Everton: Maupay (Holgate has played five minutes) Fulham: Mbabu, Vinicius, Castagne (Reed has played five minutes, and Stansfield one minute) Ipswich: Burgess Leicester: Thomas, Cannon, Nelson, Pereira, Choudhury (McAteer has played nine minutes) Liverpool: Phillips, Doak, Bajcetic, Gomez (Elliott has played seven minutes, and Endo one minute) Man City: Cancelo, Kabore, Walker (Ake has played one minute) Man Utd: Hannibal, Eriksen (Antony has played one minute, and Sancho seven minutes) Newcastle: Fraser, Hayden, Lewis, Targett, Willock (Almiron has played one minute) Forest: Dennis, Omobamidele Spurs: Reguilon, Lo Celso, Solomon, Davies, Dragusin (Solomon apparently having a medical with Leeds) West Ham: Zouma, Cornet, Aguerd (Cresswell has played one minute, and Ings five minutes) Wolves: Semedo, Silva, Traore, Guedes, S Bueno, Cundle Obviously not every player above will be available to move (whether on loan or permanently). But I would suggest that a sizeable number could be available, whether to move abroad, or to another PL team, or down to the Championship. There are a few names there who I would be interested in for Saints. But the out-of-favour PL player who I'm most interested in (most likely on loan) isn't listed above, because he played 16 minutes for West Ham on the opening day.
I expect this week to see us sign Bijlow and Fraser and that will be us done. Hopefully a few outgoing aswell
If it is to be that, then we really need to move BBD into the 9 position. Not ideal, but there we are...
Will be an interesting few days. Hopefully there is a plan for another striker but no panic buys. Bringing in an experienced loanee to the squad would be nice.
19 year old Irish winger Kevin Zefi allegedly training with Saints. Currently on the books with Roma - probably more an academy signing
Great work! Ings on loan looks more attractive a proposition as the window gets closer to slamming shut. If we’re not going to play a central striker, then I would say we need a central attacking midfielder to link the play, Buendia would be an interesting option. Sancho would be a wildcard for someone
Will be really interesting to see how they perform this season. I’ve not followed as to whether they’ve relied on our loans for transfers or have signed anyone else, but if the team is too full of young players you’d expect them to potentially be top prospects to come down again.
