Same happened to me for the 1992 final V Liverpool but I managed to get two black market tickets 6pm on the Friday night and drove down to London by 7pm . Ticket was originally from Carlisle United but ended up at Murton somehow but the person selling them couldn’t go due to illness -thankfully . Enjoyed it still , shame about the result !
Shame that , you must have been to a hell of a lot of Wembley disappointments over the years until the last two appearances with the amount of games we lost on the trot .
I was at every home game that season, we had gates of 13,000, I hate the bastards who jumped on the glorytrain
Never seen that before. Thanks mate. Love the commentary at the FT whistle all about the football passion of the north east being ignited by us!,
If l remember correct we even went as low as 11thou. several games. Ever present me & brother-i-L. Clockstand on half-way line standing on crackets to see over the the heads of the ‘crowd’ KTF
Me too, Ray Kennedy stood alongside me in the queue while chatting away to the Sunderland supporters in front, they must have thought he was with me . .
I used to stand on a cracket in the Fulwell end paddock next to the tunnel with my dad and four brothers. When I got tall enough the cracket was passed down to my younger brother. Great times being that close to the players.
Hands up I bought a couple of half price season tickets over Xmas hols that year and hit the jackpot, great seats for Man City, Arsenal and of course the Final at Wembley.
