Aaaannnddd relax. OK, so our first league goal of the season, our first point of the season AND I get a correct prediction league score. Could be worse.
Totally agree about the dirty cheating feckers Nin. But when your manager looks like he's on day release from Swansea nick, what do you expect? Much better second half but still not creating enough chances.
Subs made all the difference. If wed started like that we'd have won. Swansea are pretty crap and we allowed them to play 1st half. Please end Bulutball.
Well that's that nonsense out of the way for a while. Well done chaps. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds!
Think we deserved that. Much better second half. Got in their faces a bit more and our goal was very well worked. Once the ref stopped buying their diving then we stood half a chance. Onwards and upwards eh? Daland looks quality (with the exception of switching off for the goal) we could well have come out of the McGuinness sale in a stronger position.
It’s still a conundrum as to our best starting X1. Neither keeper impress. If feasible loan out one of them and bring in a big keeper who can catch the ball and distribute better. Back 4 as it is although Chambers isn’t great in the air. Ramsey or Ralls deep, Robertson for Siopis, Colwill with Willock and El Ghazi out wide. Kanga or a better striker. Kanga probably better off the bench but he doesn’t get involved. Decent bench with impact potential.
Daland did okay and fancies himself on the ball. That will be spotted and he will be caught out by some teams. I think he was taken aback by the pace of the game but he will get used to that. Now him and McGuinness together would have been some pairing.
Hope we're still in the market for an upgrade on the strikers we have. I would still like to see Reindorf given a chance.
Willock looks very tidy, as does Robertson. When El-Ghazi is fully fit he'll be a decent acquisition too. Thought Chambers did ok today TBF. I hate to say it but we need to get more from Rambo. Last season started really well with him but this season, so far at least, he seems more laboured. Siopis too, as much as I love his all action style, he gets caught on the ball far too often or plays a poor pass. If we persist with him then he needs options close by to give the ball to simply. Still have my glass half full and am quietly confident we're going to have a pretty decent season overall.
I listened to the game on radio wales on the PC. For some reason, after 40 mins it threw me off 'due to broadcasting restrictions' so listened through the TV after that. Anyway, putting the trials and tribulations to one side, a couple of the commentators said that we looked like a team trying to come to terms with a new style and that the Swans looked 12 months ahead of us, because they are. Also, that new players were still trying to learn about each other. As others have said, there are green shoots to be seen. It will take some time. We might end this season in the same sort of position as last year but with an improved style and an upgrade in players. We still need someone to fill the onion sack and its unfortunate the injuries we've had, but.......... .......my glass is still half full. Yes there are things that still need to change or evolve, there are partnerships that need to develop and there are still a couple of problem areas. A couple players are playing catch up but will get there and have proven quality. The CBs need to develop a partnership but now look to be players more comfortable on the ball. We need a LB to allow O'Dowda to operate further forward. Bulut needs to find a way of getting the best out of Ramsey and getting Colwill more game time. A few players still need moving on. The age profile is looking better with a couple young signings with room, and time, to develop. More of the players are ours. They won't be going back to parent clubs at the end of the season. More players are experienced in this league and have played higher though a couple still need to adapt. The younger signings look to be hungry and ambitious and even the likes of Chambers and El Ghazi have points to prove. Man for man, the squad looks more capable than last year but they need to become a collective. I'm just hoping we can get a period of stability and progress on a generally straight path, rather than plipping and flopping every 6 months.
I still feel he needs to play deeper. He's no longer got the legs to burst forward and get in the box as was his trademark. He needs to use his head more than his legs and pull the strings. Playing in Whitts' more lugubrious style wouldn't be a bad thing for him or us. With the likes of Colwill, Willock, El Ghazi, Robinson, O'Dowda, Robertson ahead of and around him, he needs to be the conductor of the orchestra.
Ramsey has contributed little this season in 3 90 minutes. He needs to play in the deep role, with Robertson and Colwill no 10. Noticed that Willock goes missing for chunks of the game so needs to get involved more. Siopis is just not good enough. Period. It also depends on the type of opponent. Today Bulut got it wrong with his starting midfield 3 but thankfully brought on Colwill so Ramsey could go deeper.
Good break for the city goal. Erol's red looked a bit harsh. A few Swans players hands laid on him. https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/video/player/0_lmx7cotv
Just had a butchers on planet swamp board; the travelling community aren’t happy with their manager for his tactics and substitutions and there’s a few plaudits for Colwill for his impact. Anyhow their Cup Final against the capital is over, so now it’s onwards and upwards hopefully
Planet Swamp should breath a sigh of relief that we didn't start on the front foot. Bulut could yet take us down. A couple of injuries and they are in serious trouble. Their bench was garbage and like us some starters not good enough for this level.
