    Missed this post mate.
Brings a tear to me eyes.
That sums up the support even in defeat.
The whinging fannies need to take note.

    Through thick and thin.

Talking to me lad when he got back from the Wednesday game and I was asking him what the new pa system was like. The new pitch, how he thought we played etc. (this is from a lad that played football from age 4 to 18) and he said "I only really go for the atmosphere, but aye, PA system sounds good" <laugh>

I need two tickets to the smoggy game if anyone can help me out :emoticon-0148-yes:

Oh, and "wise men say" . "Can't help falling in love" is gonna be one of me death songs :emoticon-0148-yes:

Am not dying like, well a hope not <laugh> just saying, and am a bit pissed. <laugh>

I pointed out last season that Roberts was left high and dry by our formation and tactics early in the season (Amad left and for some unknown reason Hume was employed as a right back/inverted midfielder) this coupled with a more defensive approach meant that Roberts became isolated and it created his loss of form. IMO.

I agree and disagree with most of what you have said Smug, he is 22 and a captain for Sunderland and that comes with pressures and responsibilities that he will have to learn. For me this team is about letting players develop and learn so I am all for DN being afforded some time as I do think he will mature into the role and become a great captain for the club.

My brother gets married early September and his soon to be wife has no interest in football and has not realised that the date is during the international break so he doesn't miss a match :1980_boogie_down: He also has played her some lovely music by a string quartet which she will be walking down the aisle to as she really liked it (it is Cant help falling in love) again she has no idea, and as a family of SAFC/NUFC mixed fans I am pretty sure there will be some giggles on the day as my brother is a mad lads fan.<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

On Saturday Roberts was dogged and determined defensively. Last year he was falling over like a princess while defending on the edge of the box and losing us goals. That’s why I was done with him. The player and coaching staff deserve credit for the change in attitude. I agree with some of your points but I think Roberts’s seems fitter and more up for the scrap and that’s the change. I wonder if there was something going on on his life last year that left him feeling flat. Seems much happier now, just needs to shoot better.

Jack Clarke message to Romaine Mundle before Sunderland's Burnley win

ROMAINE Mundle’s match-winning display that created a little bit of history brought some welcome relief to Sunderland supporters against Burnley.
“Jack messaged me before the game,” said Mundle. “He said ‘you deserve this moment’.
“It was never a competition between me and Jack (to play down that side). I love Jack and I hope he does great things at Ipswich.
“He tells me to just keep doing what I am doing. He knows what I am capable of. He says keep shining, after all we have been friends since we were at Tottenham from when I was about 17.”

Great that history was made on Saturday, first time we've ever won the first three without conceding.

But there's other happy stats as well that say quite a lot.

In three games the opposition have managed a total 8 attempts on target while we've actually scored 7 goals.

We're also creating lots of chances and slipping endless balls through the back line that aren't quite anticipated ...

... once these players are all on the same wavelength I can see us beating someone by 7 or 8 goals.

    I don't think that's getting carried away ...

... there were endless times against Burnley and Sheff Wed when Roberts made clever passes that weren't read.

    I can't wait til they've been to Specsavers <laugh>

That's why I've been really impressed with RLB. He's not coming out to the press saying how he wants the team to play, he's explaining to the players how he wants them to play. I haven't seen them so organised in such a long time both defensively AND offensively. We've played 3 teams, each of which have different levels of attacking menance, yet not 1 of them have really troubled us defensively and made Patterson work in goal. That's not luck - that's the sign of a good coach and the players are still learning the system. Add to this, players that we're trying to bring in who will need to get up to speed with the system, I'm trying very hard not to get excited about how we're playing and how the season MIGHT turn out, it is a long season after all but at the minute it's looking very good and I can't wait for the next game!

Wasn't aware of this stat. I mean my eyeballs have told me the team are defensively organised to a level I can't remember seeing from a SAFC team! But that stat confirms it and is massively impressive. Let's not forget Burnley scored 9 in 2 before the weekend!

I reckon our 7 for don't do justice to how dominant they were in the two matches I watched (missed Cardiff match)
