Chelsea are back it was obvious the second half of last season but people peddle the hyperbole when one of the big 6 have a slightly difficult time. Since qualifying for the champions league Newcastle have made a complete hash of things.
I think you have to look at the teams discovering new talent. A lot are mid table teams that discover new players and then sell them onto CL chasing teams. The CL teams themselves buy the discovered talent. I wonder if we are in the unenviable position of not having the funds to buy a bunch of discoveries as the risk of finishing outside of Europe again is too high
They have no chance of finishing in a European spot imo. The other sides have pushed on and so have West ham and Brighton. Newcastle look very poor... they just don't have the players or the manager... I'll get lashed for saying that but I think in time it'll be proven right.
And this is the thing I'm trying to get at. If the absolute must have is Europe at the end of this season, then you are more likely to try for players that are established and can come in straight away, rather than chance your arm with unknowns to come straight into the 1st team
