None of us know what these lads are like with their teammates n the coaches. RLB obviously has massive faith in him n will have see what hes like with his teammates

A manager will pick the captain based on what theyve seen of their leadership ability so in that Neil is the right choice - as thats what RLB has decided

Im pleased they arent picking a captain based on how they are on the all access

What a brilliant team performance, the organised team press was superb to watch, for the first time in ages i genuinely felt relaxed at one nil up apart from the late red card, just might have a gem on our hands with Le Bris who totally, like last weekend, out thought a media darling, and reduced him to fake a unofficial time-out,what really impresses me about him is calm, cool unflustered attitude even after victories and thank god we haven’t got a happy clapper like Southampton,Leeds etc

That's not what I'm saying, it's just an example of how quiet and withdrawn he appears to be ...

... I don't see much difference on the pitch though tbh.

I'm sure they do and I'm not saying I know better ...

... I just don't see him encouraging, shouting, directing, praising his team mates, etc.

He has a 17yo and a 19yo alongside him, he should be more vocal and set a better example imo.

One thing I do know, if he repeats this stupid behaviour he'll struggle to progress either in the PL or for England. That was a critical time in the game and a totally needless challenge in a benign area of the pitch.

He doesnt stop talking on the pitch tho

Hes picked as captain as RLB has clearly seen leadership qualities in him. He js meant to be great with his teammates n he sets a high standard - the type of things youd want to see in a captain

watched the first half again, little mention of hume, neil, mayenda, jobe but watching them they still put a shift in...like people tend to say, you can miss a lot that goes on in a game and get the 'wrong' impression.

around 18 minutes shows what the squad is all about now, burnley break from our corner, watch aji, he leaves his head behind running to get back ;)

I don't have a massive problem with Neil as captain but yesterday wasn't good by any means.

If it had been O'Nien or Hume I think people would've had a lot more to say.

He has a problem now though ...

... Browne hasn't come here to sit on the bench and will put in a real shift at Portsmouth.

It wasnt good, but all players make mistakes whether they are captain or not. I saw him barking orders n acting like a Captain then a moment of madness diving into that tackle put the team on the back foot

Most have called him out on it tbf, the same they would for any player but you dont then take the captains armband off him for that mistake

100% agree on the last point, thats what we need in the team - a player misses a game n others step up. Rigg is a great example of this, Browne misses a game n Rigg has 2 stormers

    I totally agree.

I just don't think him being captain is doing him any favours and thought it was a mistake from the start ...

... but, with a squad so young, we don't have a great deal of options.

Rigg perhaps but he's not old enough to take the lads for a drink after a win <laugh>

Just watching the game back now I’m home.

Jobe was an absolute rolls royce first half. He’s like a different player to last season. His new contract is looking huge

I was 9, we lived in Lowestoft at the time and my mam worked in the pub over the road to our house, she had the place decked out in red & white, windows, bar, the lot, it was heaving with Sunderland fans they outnumbered the Norwich

Rigg reminds me of Ramsey when he was a youngun.

Hopefully his career is injury free.
