Thought I would slip between the centre backs and score my one game of the season, although I did the thread for the time we put 8 past Newport, so maybe I will get lucky. Hoping for some of the young, fringe players to start to see how they fare. A midfield of Downes, Dibling and Fernandes would be interesting, with Lesley replacing Flynn if we are in control. Sam Amo on the right, Archer down the middle and BBD on the left, with a flat back 4 for me. Would be a good time to start the Dutch keeper, if he’s here in time. Cardiff are rock bottom after 2 games, so that probably means that they will find some form against us, as is stated in Sod’s Law. We have played them 17 times, according to the stats, but we have only won 6 times, so we need to improve on that. I might miss some of this game as I have visitors, one being my grandson who becomes a teenager on the day of the match, and he wants to go out for a steak. Gone are the days when you could bung some chicken nuggets in the oven and he would be happy.
Might be too soon for the Dutch keeper, so probably Lumley starts. If we’re sticking to a back 3, think it could be Lumley Woods - Stephens - Edwards Bree - Big Les - Fernandes - Taylor Archer - Dibling - BBD

I'd go strong here. Team desperately needs some confidence and this presents a great opportunity to get some.
Lumley Bree Edwards Wood Taylor Lesley Fernandes SAA Dibling Edozie Archer If Sulemana is available, I'd have him ahead of Edozie. But I'm guessing he won't be? No point playing ABK, Alcarez, Onuachu or Charles if we're not expecting them to still be here at the end of the week. (They might even be gone before Cardiff.)
I like it, it’s the Irish man / Phillips partnership for Sunderland (I can picture him, but the names gone)
