Regis on 3 in a row first time in 99 years… ‘it is good…’ You cool bastard I ****ing love this bloke. Nothing ruffles, fazes or surprises him. I don’t care how we landed on him, what a pick up. Standing there with 40 mins or so left, and being utterly confident we aren’t conceding against one of if not the best team in league. Watching in awe as the team moves around like a graceful pack of swans in unison closing every route to goal and then away rapid up the other end. I don’t know or care how this fella hasn’t been taken already, but ****ing hell we have La def a really exceptional coach here. It’s a weird thing. Long may the strong start continue but I also want to see us have a dip or a setback to see how we react. If that’s also sidestepped then this man could be our Mourinho, our Pocchetino, our Klopp. Early signs are he could transform us. I can’t remember ever being so calm at 1-0 in a match.
No excuses for that sort of thing especially now he’s captain. Huge lesson for him when he’s sat watching us win the next game on the sidelines.
If that's true it's ****ing ridiculous. The ref booked one of theirs early doors for that so showed early he would book players for it!
So pleased he has had a good start a dispelled much of the "we are going to be relegated" and "our squad simply isn't up to it" stuff. Long season ahead but really ****ing hopeful given how intelligent and classy he seems.
Going to try and watch the full 90 back at some point today or tomorrow as you often miss things in the ground (especially with my eyesight) The organisation and press we employ is so impressive, in such a short space of time the players and coaches have really got us on the front foot. Another thing I was impressed with yesterday was how calm RLB was after the sending off and instead of just throwing on a defender or a midfielder, he waited and appeared to me to give clear instruction via the players coming on and a couple that went over to him about what he wanted to see out the game. I'm more disappointed we havent got a home game for weeks now
The 1st yellow is never a yellow tho, he hasnt stopped them playing a quick free kick, he hasnt booted the ball away he has kicked it about 5 yards away - never ever a yellow. Was watching extended highlights of a few PL games this morning and there were at least 5 incidents of players doing exactly the same n none were booked Having said that the 2nd booking is shocking n so stupid of him - he has got to stand his ground there n not dive in. Thats what hes got to learn
Aye. It’s not the 9 points mate. It’s the manor in which we do things, the clear direction. We saying players who haven’t always been in the right place or positions suddenly working as a fluid unit. The biggest one for me is Jobe. He was always going to improve. He was always going to become one of the best in the side. In 3 games he’s gone from folk saying ‘I don’t know if he gets on our first 11’ or ‘we don’t know what his best position is’ to absolutely controlling games and the pace. Attack and defence. That's gotta be the coach. We know Jobe ceiling is as high as anyone at the club, him and Riggy. But literally 3 weeks ago ‘is he first 11’. 3 performances have been 8/10/9 in a row from the lad.
aye spot on, he got drawn into the challenge as it looked like the ball had got away from the burnley player and he could nick it but the lad had a cracking turn of pace and made up the ground quickly. as you say he just needed to have a bit more nous and close the space rather than diving in. only tiny mark on an otherwise very competent performance from him again.
A very enjoyable day watching this team under the safe hands of the manager. He doesn't seem to get flustered at all and whatever he does on the training pitch the players are certainly buying into it. Great performances from just about everyone again and again it's very difficult to pick a mom but I'd just give it to Roberts. Seems transformed from last season just need him on the score sheet now to boost him further. The start to the season has been awesome and the workrate exceptional. A couple of more players in key areas through the door this week and we can really be a force this season.
Felt like so many more than usual stayed after game to applaud as well. Small thing really, and partially because it was a 1-0 but also early signs of a real bond forming with this seasons team early doors. Not to be underestimated.
It was in the 1st half when Jobe went in on one of their players and I assumed it was him who got booked but you see Neil just poke the ball away and the ref books him on the spot.
Regardless of the first yellow, the second is stupid. Dan will know this. He looked fuming walking off and I’ll assume that’s fuming with himself.
Fantastic result. Probably got Burnley at the right time losing a few players this week but they'll have thought the same with Clarke leaving Safc. Well on the way to at least securing safety from relegation.
Browne will sit in at DM for the suspension, I don't see the problem, we're very strong in midfield. The players that can come in are just as good.
