Just been looking on the firestick for a film to watch as there is absolutely no football being played today and I came across this one (very strange for me to come across a movie which ain't on pornhub) I don't know if it's been mentioned on this forum before but it's a true story which was possibly discussed on the ex player watch thread. The film is not going to win awards but it's about the son of ex player Steve Mardenborough who after two seasons in Newport and one season with the gypos joined his third Welsh club in Cardiff City. He struggled to reproduce the same form he had previously shown, scoring just once in a 3–1 win over Torquay United so failed to be inducted to the Cardiff City hall of fame, What piqued my interest in the movie was that his son Jann Mardenborough (born 9 September 1991) is a British professional racing driver. In 2011 he became the third and youngest winner of the GT Academy competition, beating 90,000 entrants to earn a professional racing contract with Nissan.[2] He had no previous motorsport experience, having played sim racing video games instead. During his career, he has finished on the podium in his class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, won races and contended for titles in GT3 and junior formula cars, and competed at the highest level in Super GT, Super Formula and the FIA World Endurance Championship.(credit wikipedia) Jann Mardenborough also wore a bluebird emblem on his helmet and his or his dad's house had lots of Cardiff City memorabilia inside. His dad also played for Turktown amongst his 25 clubs Once a Bluebird always a Bluebird
Think I mentioned his son briefly on a "Sharing the Love" thread once but not to this degree of detail. Fascinating story, may have to give it a watch if I get bored of the TV viewing by around 3:45 pm today!!
