I’m not happy with the fee and still a bit disappointed but there’s no point in crying about it, get the money and improve the squad. big big 7 days
We don’t do anything in a hurry mate, I wouldn’t be so sure. As long as deals get done before the deadline I’ll be happy.
Think the fact that it’s Ipswich (all due respect) maybe disappoints me, if the report that he was desperate to play in the prem, to go to them feels a bit of a kick in the teeth. Had he gone to a pen established side, I’d probably find it less disappointing
Or, he’s gone to a club with real momentum and ambition in the biggest league in the world. Likely for 4 x his salary.
It's the message that it sends to other players for me. Sign here, grow with us then if a move comes we'll let you go if its a fair bid. Good youngsters are understandably ambitious and unless you're Real Madrid every single club in football is a selling club. Get two or three new lads in and be stronger overall for it.
Agree with this. Good luck to him he deserves his opportunity, hopefully the money is used to strengthen and we keep this momentum up.
Hopefully. I'm disappointed that Clarke is going, but if we are stronger as a team at the end of the window, then it's been for the best. I was the same when Stewart went, but look how that's turned out. Fingers crossed for some decent quality coming in.
I think it says a lot that only Southampton and Ipswich made bids for him, he’s a very good player but hasn’t proved himself in PL yet. Itll be interesting to see what he does, if Ipswich are relegated and he does well he could move again. Hope he smashes it but I think they’ll come down.
Why is it that everyone (well, large majority) on this forum is “disappointed but looking on the bright side”, yet twitter, Facebook and I guess over the road is in meltdown!
This, 100000% this. either grow with the club, or outgrow the club and we won’t block your pathway to the top. We’ve done that with Clarke, it sting’s but that’s because he was incredible for us, excited now to see how we develop Mundle or whoever else we bring in.
Assume we have to sign by 12 noon to be able to play tomorrow ? would think there will be ab issue with international clearance though.
The value of any asset is only either... What it means to you in terms of what you can achieve with it or Whatever anyone else is prepared to pay for it at any given point in time
If we take our love for the lad out of it, and compare him to PL wingers, it’s actually quite grounding. West Ham for example. Bowen, Kudus… Brentford have likes of Mbuemo. People like Madueke struggle for games. I’m not even going close to the actual ‘top end’ PL wingers here. The class gap is staggering. He isn’t Foden, he isn’t even Kulievski. He is a wee bit one sided and one dimensional. He wants to cut inside and he’s going to be cutting inside the Walkers and the Porro’s and the TAA’s. He is going to get schooled defensively. Even if we’d gone up there’d have been a period of adjustment here in his ‘safe’ surroundings. Lads a class attacking player and a good character, let’s not pretend we just sold Cole Palmer.
Interesting thing for me now is where we choose to use that money. If we assume (maybe a big one) that Isidor and Simic are on their way, where do we look next? I look at the squad that would be left and struggle to see any areas where we don't at least have talent that needs to be developed with game time. Maybe there'd be a need for one or two loans to bridge the next year, but choosing the next steps will be a challenge for the club. Chances are, permanent signings will mean giving up on players we already have who have shown promise.
One did tell him to FO to be fair. I don’t care who disagrees with me or not, that’s life, I just don’t get all of this toxic **** that’s going on. Christ I used to be the epitome of it s few year ago, but I’ve mellowed since grandson was born. I’ve turned into a right old wet wipe, snowflake, blinkered, pussy flange, to name but a few.
