    Stings a bit this one.

Not because we’re losing a player to the Premier League, but because we’re losing him to a club that’s leapfrogged us.

I wish the kid well. Personally think we’ll be seeing him in the Championship again next season though.

Even if they had met his salary demands, he would have left when a top-tier team showed interest. This would set a precedent for higher wages, leading every player to seek substantial pay raises. There must be a cap on player salaries

Aye but then I think this fair to question true ambition. I get it's the model etc too mind.

But aye. The king is dead..... Long live the king.

Fees are all relative. We're linked with Simic for £4m plus add-ons who was apparently valued at £12m in December. If we'd have got £20m up front for Clarke and spent £12m on Simic, I imagine people would be much happier despite the outcome being the same.

Not sure me. They have signed really well. They have spent money and gambled in our league. Got promoted and are living the dream, signing our crown jewel. Whist we talk about a model. That's why fans are fuming.

Good luck to the lad, he has been great for us.

To all the people saying the price is to low, none of you have a clue what the price is

The only thing that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth is that bollock licker Harte making money from it, he has been agitating for 2 seasons now

    this, really.

way of football now is that usually there’s a sell on % out in which reduces the amount of money received, sure we did it with Birmingham for Jobe.

3m was the rumour then they settled on 1.5 with a %.

****ing hell eh, 2 hours ahead and you wake up to this. I don’t know why fans get their knickers in a twist over a fee being quoted but yet to be acknowledged by the club.

I’d have loved Jack to have stayed, but of all our assets he was the most saleable and replaceable right now. If we sign Wilson, Simic and one other I’ll be very happy with our business.

We need to be able to mix our way of playing/front line this season , so if selling Clarke allows for that then happy days. It also reminds other young players that we will develop them for their benefit & ours, so keep that conveyor belt rolling.

I hope he does well for himself in the PL, and for us. Good luck Jack.

    announce some signings today Safc

Hopefully sales like this can help us move to the bracket above in time, gutted like but your point about our best player being kept out of all kit launches has only just resonated with me, was staring us in the face all summer really

After decades of underachievement, disappointment and having to make do, we suddenly have a team with incredibly talented players.

It's easy to forget that we occasionally have to give up our best prospects, take the profits and repeat the process.

Jack Clarke knew this and expected it. I've enjoyed watching him play and wish him the very best for his future career.

I have never had an ice bath. I’ve never particularly wanted to have an ice bath. Some of you may have but I can imagine it being a shock to the system when you go under the water for the first time but you eventually get used to it.

As a fan base, some of us have just had our first ice bath with the news we’ve have accepted an offer for Jack and that he is now leaving. The shock is that we are losing one of our better players and some may feel this smacks of a lack of ambition. This is the next stage of the model we are seeing now.

At the recent talk in I asked KS the question about how we haven’t seen this part of the model yet in operation and how do the club find the balance of keeping better players and accepting offers for our players in order to reinvest and improve the squad in different areas. I thought his answer was interesting. He talks about sometimes the club outgrows a player but also how players sometimes outgrow the club. We’re at the point now where Jack has shown he is of the standard to play in the PL and we were always going to lose him at some point. Yes the fee may be on the low side for some but it’s how it is reinvested is what matters.

Before we got RLB, I was talking about this to a friend about how the latter part of last season we tried nearly every attack through Jack and teams got wise to this and doubled up on him to snuff him out. I argued if we sold him we could get other players in and that our attacking options could be spread through the team rather than through just one outlet - Jack. With the acquisition of Poveda, Mundle and potentially Isodore, Samic and Mendy and the emergence of Mayenda, those attacking options look far better now than just having Jack. Good luck to the lad. Thank you for everything you have given to us.

Here is the link to the talk. I ask my question at 13m 40s for anyone that’s interested.

So the next part of the Model kicks in for the first time but we will no doubt have more ice baths to come when we eventually lose players like Rigg, Jobe etc but hopefully they won’t be as cold as this first one!!

I was getting a bit of hope he was staying but you have said it would be this window for a while (strip launch was a good point).

Looking at Romanos post, wonder if we’ve took less than we wanted to respect clarkes wishes for prem footy. Club should put themselves first obviously but clarke has been class for us and attitude appears top quality too.

Yeah mate. It was the off chance I was told to be honest, but there has been a expectation that it would be this window for an age.

We have no idea what the fee is, yet some fans going mental that we have accepted a low fee. Romano saying its 20 million, plus incentives n sell on clause. Sky saying 15 and raises to 20

The fact we got 12 million for stewart when he was injured and in the last yr of his contract makes me think we must have had a very good offer to accept it

Ill be sad to see him go as he was a joy to watch n he handled himself really well during all this

Players will always come n go, now time for us to improve as a team

Romano isnt saying that. Total package is 20m including adds ons and sell on.

It's why sky and the athletic were happy to say it was under serious consideration yday.

Did people get mixed up when there was apparently a Serbian lad having a medical? Could it be a winger/wide forward to replace Clarke or is it Isidor and Simic and people getting mixed up?

I'm not fussed providing the money allows us to strengthen the team overall.

I think Mundle will do the business given time like JC got.
