Sunderland Head Coach Régis Le Bris has been addressing the media ahead of the Lads’ latest Sky Bet Championship test against Burnley. Both teams are the early frontrunners in the table this season with the Clarets topping the division on goal difference. Sunderland climbed to second after a resounding 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday in which Eliezer Mayenda helped himself to a brace. We need to develop the players. Sometimes it happens fast and players might need six months or one year. We need to believe in their potential. Le Bris told the media: “The players we have in the building are strong. Some are young and need experience and the example of Eliezer Mayenda is a good example. It explains our process, we believe in our players. “I wasn’t surprised by this kind of performance but I want to be surprised that we can keep this kind of performance.” A stern test awaits them this weekend at the Stadium of Light with recently appointed Scott Parker helping his side to two wins out of two. “It is a good challenge,” continued Le Bris. “This team knew the Premier League last season. They have many talented and experienced players so this will be a good test for us. To test our consistency during the game and to solve other problems. “It is one more game and 90 minutes more to understand the balance of the game, the way we are still improving or not. After ten games, I will have a better understanding of the whole picture, it’s not the case but this next test will be very interesting for us.” https://www.safc.com/news/2024/august/22/-rlb---consistency-is-our-main-focus-/
HA'WAY THE LADS MACKEMS ATTACKEM 3 - 1 Another goal for Mayenda as we brush these aside on our march to the premier league. Cooooomon.
Anywhere in Sunderland is safe all bars round the stadium are away fans friendly. The SAFC museum is a good shout
A draw would represent a fantastic start to the season. Hope our fans get a (possibly final) chance to see Clarke tear a team apart.
Why settle for a point, Burnley have already won nearly half as many games as they did all last season. Which doesn’t say much.
Not sure on this one as I think Burnley will probably adopt a very attacking style, that said defensively we have looked well organised for the most part. On the plus side if they commit to attack and do not beat our press then that could be dangerous for them. Both teams may cancel each other out, so I am expecting an interesting tactical game with us scraping it 7-0 actually think 2-1
