I doubt the full details of the transfer will be released, they're usually 'undisclosed' these days, safe to say we were looking for £25m all in and most of the interested parties weren't wanting to go over £20m all in.
Canny gutted about Clarke tbh. Team has looked so well balanced in the first two games and he is a genuine game changer. If it’s £20m including add ons then I think that’s canny short (imo) especially with some of the fees being paid from this league. Also surprised it’s Ipswich too, thought he could have got a more stable prem team, I think he’ll do well, not necessarily with goal/assist numbers but the way he relieves pressure on defences with his runs, wish him luck. Seen a few posts about mundle coming in (like him and looks sharp from preseason) but I think we need a replacement for Clarke to fight with mundle. Clarkes contribution has been significant and mundle hasn’t shown enough yet for me for him to be the direct replacement. But this is the model and sales were going to come eventually, let’s see how we do with some bigger budgets.
Disappointed we haven't got a bit more for Clarke. What a contribution he has made though. Maybe deserves to go for a bit less as a kind of mark of gratitude - that sounds a bit wrong but I hope you get the gist / my meaning. Other players in our squad will also notice us not standing in Clarke's way for a good move.
Totally agree with this. We could have waited a few more days for a bit more money but they want to get others in asap
Thank you Jack Clarke for your skill, effort and entertainment. I hope he smashes it in the premier league, gutted it wasn't with us, but it just wasn't to be
Was resigned to losing Jack this summer. Still absolutely gutted. What a player - wish him all the best.
hope someone clears that fee up, last one was 15+5 'add-ons' now it reads as 20+'add-ons'...so i am hoping it is 20M then some extras depending on goals/appearances/staying up or w/e. then no one seems sure just what sort of share spurs will get, 25, 30 or 40% so i am going to guess that we should have 10M 'spare' which is enough to get two or three players in. anyhow, wish the lad all the best, he was man enough to drop down to div three to try and get his career back on track...and he certainly did that.
I do feel like the fee is a touch low, especially with Spurs taking some of it. However, us inserting sell on is huge. Means at any point in next few years we could get a pretty significant fee coming into the club. For that reason I will be hoping he does well, which is different for me as I normally hope people who leave the club fail If you told me in May that Clarke would leave but Jobe, Ballard and Rigg would sign new deals with Neil apparently close to signing one I would've taken it. We now have a week to spend it, do it properly and we will improve. Over to you Speakers.
Forgot to add that Clarke has been sublime here. He has earned every bit of this PL move. Hope he absolutely smashes it and earns us a few quid with the sell on. Go well Clarkey.
Hoping he does well as we get paid again with the sell on. I wonder if that was the changer, either an extra £5m now or gamble that the sell on will bring us more back longer term. He'll be a miss cause hes been phenomenal for us. Ridiculous that we were able to get him to the club in League One and then get him signed permanently. Over to the club now, reinvest wisely!
Ipswich reportedly paid £15m rising to £20m for delap. I think Clarke is quite a bit ahead of him, a similar fee feels short. I think there will be different fee reported tomorrow hopefully it’s more than Romano is claiming
