so, first test v sri lanka and the visitors were all out for 236. perhaps a little disappointing that they got that many given that they were 6/3 at one stage. and, as i type, harry brook loses his wicket. to make it 187/5. parity isn't far away, and we might still have a first-innings lead. the main reason for reviving this post, apart from the fact it needed doing, was that if smith had added another 3 runs before the smith-brook partnership ended, we'd have two batsmen batting together with career test averages of 60+ (even if one of them has a test career only a handful of games old). my apologies for jinxing it! perhaps later in the series.
