    @AlfieHouseEcho
    Russell Martin on Jack Clarke: "He's a player who did well in the Championship. We have been linked with a lot of players this summer and some are miles off. I wouldn't say this is high on the priority list at the moment, we are not in the race at the moment."

    @AlfieHouseEcho
    Adds he is good friends with Jack Clarke's agent, though.

    This may be controversial but if Spurs didn't have a sell on I think that would be bordering on an acceptable fee for me. However, the sell on means we can't even think about accepting it. As I have already said, if we can walk away with £17m I will be content.

    Not sure what we paid is particularly relevant, if you inherited a house you wouldn't just sell it for way under the market value.

    Unfortunately we need to accept we ain't going to bank maga money from the players we sell. Its only fair really. We share a chunk of the fee with the selling clubs in order to get a reasonable price.

    This Croatian. Club know he could walk for free in a year, clubs won't bid high due to contract. We come along and off a mil or 2 maybe, but then a big sell on. Club know that we'll play him and if he has a good year or 2, they could bank 10 mil or so from the sell on. Big incentive to sell to a club like sunderland, rather than a club who may play him bit part

    Probably not far off what we paid for the whole squad, then there's the Stewart money ...

    ... I can't remember a time that compares at Sunderland tbh.

    As Wardley says, we can attract players with big sell-on percentages but there's a slight downside.

    Just woke up to all this news (I’m abroad).

    This Simic looks the real deal.

    I can’t see it happening without Clarke going. But to me would 100% prove “the model”.

    The fee for Clarke is a touch on the low side but not far off, for me. People comparing him to Hutchison I know but that kid is very good as well and potentially has a higher upside than Clarke, IMO.

    Isidore saying he wants to come to Sunderland because of Le Bris is also hugely encouraging to me. Hugely.

    It's because the sell on is based on profit, so ironically it's better for us if we paid more for him originally.

    Leeds signing Largie Ramazani for £10m, left winger. Harte will be gutted

    Isidor is a loan with option to buy (probably)

    Simic I presume will be permanent

    Mendy permanent

    If all three arrive, I'd expect Rusyn and Hemir to leave (either loan or sold)

    With Mayenda, that gives us 4 CF in the squad. Which is reasonable imo. They'll be some situations where we might play 3-5-2, or other formations with 2 up front. Regis has already said we don't want to rely solely on mayenda, and Hes still developing, so 4 forwards gives us the ability to rotate, cover for injuries and different tactics

    Can only see two of the three happening.

    Isidore definitely, as he’s just a loan.

    If Clarke is sold - Simic
    If Clarke stays - Mendy.

    Just my opinion.

    But it’s why all along I’ve been saying I hope we make large sales EARLY as it completely changes the market we can shop in.

    This, for me if it comes off, should prove the model to people and also prove that the club have options ready to go if sales happen. I’m hugely impressed.

    That said if we can sign Simic and keep Clarke then winner winner.

    Sounds like Simic is a lot closer already according to reports in Croatia. They say he travelled yesterday for a medical. Our journos usually always play things down a lot too. I think the club just don’t want to tell them yes it’s done until it fully is

    One other thing I’ll add. Losing Clarke will hurt.

    But if you told me 3 months ago we’d only lose one of Clarke, Neil and Ballard, AND get Rigg to sign a pro deal, I’d have snapped your hands off.

    There was reports of two people here yesterday

    someone posted this morning about his agency being here, then the media in salzburg and Croatia say he was left out due to talking about coming here

    there’s far too many things in one hat to not have any truth to it

    I’d be very surprised to see all three unless the intention is for Isidore to play LW

    Yeh reading between the lines on him (complete guesswork), is that he’s had his medical and is just ready to sign once we give green light. Which will be based on an acceptable offer for Clarke.

    like I say just guesswork.
