I’m not terrified of Mundle getting a run if Clarke goes. You could easily argue Mundle looks easily as good as Clarke did when he first signed. Clarke wasn’t great at the start, wasn’t a guaranteed starter. Wembley being the obvious pointer. He’s 2 years younger and he has better players around him than Clarke did whilst developing, and when he was at Spurs they offered him a contract, how chose to go and play. There’s a canny upside to Mundle, and we appear far less reliant on Clarke early doors. Ill admit this is me trying to bright side a painful loss if he goes, but it’s all true.
I really don't want Clarke to go. For me you take the risk and hope we can get up this season. If we don't, we'll still get a good fee next season. Doesn't make sense unless the lad wants to go which is very different. If he does, we should do right by him
I think it’s a good move for Clarke tbh. I’d love him to stay obviously he’s probably the best winger in the division but at least if he goes to Ipswich it’s because he’ll play most games. If he went to someone like a West Ham he’s got no chance of starting. At the very least if they go down he’s had a full season of football to showcase his talent on the big stage.
He’ll go with my best wishes like, been the ultimate pro here and deserves a crack at the prem, 2 promising strikers coming in and then there’s mundle who’s potential is huge, won’t reach it without regular games, could be a blessing, definitely just trying to convince myself of this though
So looking like it was true there was actually a long haired Serbian at the AOL yesterday then? Edit: he’s Croatian, whoops
We all knew someone might have to be sold to fund the next round of purchases, If Clarke goes then he goes with my best wishes and thanks for the great performances. Still potentially gives us a front 3 of Mundle, Simic, Roberts with a back ups of Isidor, Poveda, Mayender, Rusyn and Watson
Tend to agree. I'm not going to try and spin it to say that losing Clarke wouldn't be huge, but we have options and we are no longer a team who's plan A is "give it to Clarkie" with no Plan B. Losing him would huge, but it won't kill our season IMHO
And if our plan is ‘give it to Clarke’, we’d need to step back from that anyway. Mind, it cannot be £15m rising to £20m, that’s not nearly enough. And we can’t link add ins to them staying up that’s too risky.
