If we get Isidor in, not fussed if the Mendy deal falls through really. Would be happy enough with Isidor + e.g. Lankshear or similar on loan.
I'm not too worried tbh mate. Clarke clearly loves it here. At the moment he's keeping all options open, but if the right deal doesn't come in from another club then I fully expect him to sign a new two-year deal in September with a release clause if the club are offered above a certain amount.
I'm not trying to be negative by saying it could be Isidor or Mendy. Think for us to get two senior strikers in then at least one of Rusyn and Hemir need to head out, even if it's just on loan. Hard to sort because I imagine much of the interest in Rusyn would be from Ukrainian clubs and we're going to have to foot the bill for a lot of his wages for that to happen given the general horror. Can't imagine there's a huge queue for Hemir either.
Looks like the Mendy deal is off, Sunderland Board withdraw their offer. Now I can't find the link. Might be becasue it was BS.
The investment at the SOL and the AOL tells you different , KLD spends his or rather the clubs money wisely and does not squander the resources of the club - That is totally different to being skint ! From day one he said he wanted the club to be run in a sustainable manner , just because he isn’t splashing the cash like the chuckle brothers whilst taking the club backwards in all aspects . Cant understand why people think the clubs skint as opposed to being run efficiently THEIR is a difference .
Unsure where I stand on this latest Mendy development. Think it's highly possible it's just a negotiation tactic but I could also see us pulling out completely if Caen just aren't playing ball and the fee is too high for us plus moving on now gives us time to sort other targets.
I'm not sure the Mendy deal will definitely be off. Likely a bargaining tactic - it's hard to see Mendy playing for Caen again
Think I'd like us to stick with Mendy if we at all can. We've chased him all summer, we've clearly had influence to get him to make the public statements he has. I know there's no sentimentality in football, but I'd like to think that SAFC are honourable in how they operate - at least to a reasonable extent.
Saw this on FB. No idea of the source, but I'll cling on to anything that may suggest that Jack Clarke will sign a new contract.
to an extent yes. But from what we can tell (all coming from the French side), we had an agreed fee for him and it’s Caen who’ve moved the goalposts. we shouldn’t be forced to pay £5m for a 30 year old striker we’d previously agreed a £2m fee for out of “honour”. (Numbers assumed) I love that Mendy’s gone on strike and wants the move. But if this breaks down it’s not on us, based of what the French reporters are saying, not our spin. We’ve been deadly quiet.
Some in our fanbase need to get real, we currently have 2 viable forward options, 3 if you include Hemir. If we bring in this lad from Russia and Mendy there are 5 options up front. If we lose 1 we would still have 4 competing for 1 place as we don’t play with 2 up top. imo we won’t sign another forward unless 2 go out the door.
I think that's the key. It's important that the player and his agent apportion the blame with Caen. We can't afford to get a reputation as a club who doesn't operate properly with players. So long as we achieve that I'm fine with us moving on - albeit if we get Isodor I'd be letting Caen sweat a bit longer. The need is to be 'honourable within reason' for me.
