Definitely feels a bit grimy to me tbh. But I guess we've taken money from pretty unpleasant regimes in the past and been 'fine' with it. I'd feel better if this lad hadn't continued to ply his trade in Russia since 2022 though. The option for him to nope out of that country has been there for a while.
What’s a wind up? We’ve signed one forward from that region who was playing out of his skin there and he can’t get a game for us, what is signing a younger striker who hasn’t performed anywhere near as well going to achieve? If we sign Mendy are we going to put a loanee who’s statistically not as good as Rusyn, ahead of Mayenda?
Well, Isidor has scored more goals than Rusyn has in his career and is two years younger. Had better goal scoring seasons than Rusyn too
Because it's a better fit. Rusyn had one good season at Zorya playing mainly as a wide forward, he's came here and we've played him pretty exclusively as a lone striker in a system where he's being asked to play with his back to goal which is not his strength at all. I know basically nothing about Isidor but from the clips and data available he looks a much better fit.
Good comparison that mate. War torn country in which most of the foreign players had their contracts terminated is now the same standard as the Premier League, get the lad signed up I’m sure he’ll be smashing 30 goals this season. Someone get a YouTube video up of him quick so you can all rave about how good he is
Unsure but Bundesliga clubs, PSG and some other European clubs have done business with them this summer.
It’s nothing like it at all. This is a Russian football club not the Russian government. We’re not buying Putin new tanks mate.
Mate come on, you’d not heard of him half an hour ago. We have no idea whatsoever if he’s a good fit. As for scoring more goals than Rusyn, most of his goals came in the Championnat National in France, I don’t even know how low that’s ranked? 3rd or 4th tier I assume.
Have any British clubs done so yet? Been googling but haven't found any. Think Chelsea might have signed a youth player edit: Sheffield United got one on loan in 22 but that seems to have been through the foreign player contract exemption that FIFA put in place. This lad has continued to play in Russia since then.
Yuo said the leagues are from the same region, his point is that Scottish and English football are close, means absolutely nothing interms of league quality. The Russian league is well better than the Ukranian, even after a mass exodus of it's players
