We complain sort of about Rajovic not doing enough for the team, interstingly I watched Chelsea v Man City and the commentators were talking about Haarland and his contribution to the team, up to and including his goal he touched the ball twice and then a couple of times more when he almost scored again and they estimated that including his occasional jogging from side to side he actually put in almost 20 minutes of actual effort in the game BUT because he scores he gets away with it which reminds me of what TC said at the end of last season that the team should do more to create chanced for Rayovic rather than expecting him to create and score his own chances Thoughts?????
I would agree with TC. He is a player who can score goals when the chances come for him in the penalty area. There were times yesterday when he was making diagonal runs across the box, dragging defenders away, and creating space for others. He also looked a bit more mobile.
Igahlo did not do much for the team apart from his goals and most off his goals came from Deeney putting chances on a plate for him but he rarely if ever set up anything for Deeney, I think Rajovic"s main weakness is his lack of natural pace so the midfield have to take that into account
The thing is, he game was **** apart from the goals last season. To be fair, he looks to have improved a bit, so long may that continue as before we had a poacher who couldn't do f all else. At least he looks a bit more like he can link up, early days.
Although think Rajovic has looked quicker and more involved in the periods he has played this season . Haaland certainly is a goal scorer with everyone doing the hard work and creating chances behind him .
There was something refreshing about Saturday which reminded me of matches many years ago. In those far off days, usually one team was obviously better to most people watching, ( on the day) and most often won. In the last 10 (?) maybe 20 years, however apparently better one team is, it all seems to come down to taking chances. I couldn't honestly say we played better than Rotherham or Huddersfield last season or worse than Southampton even. Again, first week, Millwall had more decent chances. Were we the better side ? Not obvious to me, even though we played better-looking football. Anyway, last Sat, we were, over the match, clearly the better side ,and the result reflected that. (It doesn't help with the hyperbole from the meejah. We didn't 'thrash' Stoke, although they didn't have many good ideas.) So it would be good to think there will be more matches like Sat. Reminds me a bit of Zola's season - but perhaps I'm getting carried away ( with my own hyperbole ?)
