Erol needs to keep his mouth shut after this one. A lot of the signings are now his. Concerning how many injuries we're getting.
Score line did flatter Burnley with 2 pot shots going in after 88 minutes plus a gift courtesy of the keeper but to be honest they’ll score a lot of goals at this level. As for City some neat stuff but lacking any tempo and goal threat. 180 minutes in. 0 goals. 7 conceded. That about sums it up
Horvath has to be dropped surely. He has never convinced me, lots of poor keeping last season. Trouble is we have been blessed with good keepers for years and now we have a couple of journeymen to rely on. Which of course, cannot be relied upon. He had better get something right for next week or they will be calling for his head. The doubters are out there now. The other thing we do not move the ball fast enough to play out from the back.
So on Saturday we lost away to one of the red hot favourites to get promoted. On the previous Saturday, we lost at home to a team that beat the Owls 4-0 after the Owls had won their first game 4-0 against a Plymouth side that drew with Hull on Saturday. What do I take from this?...very little other than our game is developing, we need to sort out our strike rate and that the keeper may be an issue. I also similarly to remote, have a slight concern about injuries and how they're happening. Forty four games to go in the most unpredictable of leagues plenty of time to bed down or not and, to work out how to score or not. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
And let's not throw in our towels just yet..... (definitely need to keep hold of them). At the risk of sounding like a ridiculously positive fruit cake, the way I see things right now is; a) This is the Championship, known only for it's predictable unpredictability; b) We've said from word go that we'd need to be patient as we try to evolve our style and integrate new players; c) We have actually had some decent dominant spells in both games against the teams that are now leading the way - in fact, in Saturday's game we pretty much restricted Burnley to nothing (1 shot?) in the first half whilst creating good chances of our own; d) We were only behind due to a complete howler, but these things do happen occasionally (we saw it with Danny Ward for Wales, I believe Burnley themselves saw it a few times with Muric last season). Even their 2nd goal had an element of fortune about it in the way it got to the player who scored, once 2 behind it was always going to be a tough ask; e) If (I know, ifs buts and maybes) Horvath doesn't drop his clanger and IF Meite's shot goes in off the post instead of bouncing across goal... who knows what could have happened? Would it have been a different story perhaps?? it's all very fine margins going against us right now. Things ARE heading in the right direction, it's just unfortunate that we have come up against 2 sides that have been able to make the most of their chances when we've missed ours. Lord knows we robbed Sunderland last year up at their place and I recall our home game v QPR in 2019 (I think) - they battered us in terms of playing but we won 3-0 as everything we hit went in. We deserved nothing that day yet came away with all the points - Only a complete pessimist will say we deserved nothing out of the two games played thus far. We may well lose to the Jacks on Sunday but I for one still think we'll finish above them again this year come end of season and also think that once we hit our groove we'll be fine and may yet trouble the top 6. I still recall watching the first series of Mission to Burnley and seeing how much they struggled at the beginning to adopt their new style of play - results were pretty poor, they were giving away stupid goals, yet they stuck with it and reaped the rewards - we just have to try be patient enough to see if we can do the same. It's clear what we are trying to do, it'll just take a bit more time to get there than we'd like.
You're not wrong in what you say BB. But it is very much aunty, bo££ocks, uncle in terms of our inability to put the air bag in the onion sack. We need to greatly improve on the ifs, buts and maybes if we want to climb this league.
I won't disagree there. Still so much to work on, but we do have the luxury right now of time to fix it... even if it does hurt occasionally along the way.
to be fair, if you asked 100 jacks to guess the score from these statistics without saying which match it was , 99 would say ‘where’s ew to butt?’
where's ew to? in english would be 'Where might you be going my friend?' where's - where are ew - you to - going butt (butty, buddy) - friend I was in a nightclub in twintown once and I invited one of the local girls to join me on the dancefloor she didn't say no or 'f**k off I'm drinking' like turktown lasses, she said.... 'I can't mun cos when I dances I sweats and when I sweats I smells'
Oh and the reply from the jacks 99 bears no relation to the question as by the end of the stat list they would have forgotten what they had to do
