I don't think I've seen a single person claim we don't need a striker. So he's twisting about absolutely nothing.
Imagine claiming to support Sunderland but then raging because 2 wins in 2 games debunks your anti-SAFC agenda....?
Realistically this is Harte’s last big pay day as Clarke is the most valuable of all his clients. Clarke will play premier league football one way or another, if he moves Harte gets a decent agent fee. However if we were to get promoted the only way Harte would get any decent cash would be if we were to sell him to one of the big boys.
I don't even think this has come from Harte, it's just Graeme Bailey being Graeme Bailey, smoggy a**ehole, considering some of the rubbish he's come out with this summer it's no wonder he's gone from reporting for Sky to giving "exclusives" to the likes of HITC and TBR (whoever they are)
would be amazed if Clarke was still here end of window epecially since Harte really pushing for a move even though he seems very happy here
Harte has been pushing for a move for Clarke for years now, I'm not worried. Only way Clarke leaves is if our valuation is met, and if it is, then fair enough. Harte can twist, moan, and mouth off to the press all he wants, but that won't change the situation.
If we did sell Clarke for the reported £25m, what would we do with the money? We don't have many empty spaces in this squad barring the obvious. Would we buy players for now or bank some to acclimatise ahead of next season? Would we keep our powder somewhat dry ahead of future windows? The temptation would be to get a like-for-like replacement, but smart clubs tend to replace a good player in the aggregate rather than directly. Interesting article on Liverpool's transfer work in The Athletic today. Notable that the deal that really pushed them on as a club was selling Coutinho and using the money to bring in two players in completely different positions in VVD and Alisson. What's the equivalent for the current SAFC? Striker and centre half?
Go and get Rowe for £15million, £10million in bank. I don’t see Jacky going, I think he loves it here and will give it one more year.
I'd argue either way. If they went down the route of signing a winger to replace him straight away, it would show intent to want to make sure we've got the best chance in the league this season. They could acclimatise to the league whilst Mundle plays. Alternatively, we could like you say, spend 10 million on a striker (unlikely) and maybe sign in other positions, using our abundance of options and hoping they fit.
We can't sell him to another champ club. I know they've got premier money and have sold players but we've got to aspire to be bigger and better than them. I can understand him going to premier league but not a fellow champ club
