The first goal and Cirkin’s celebration. As he’s running past the ball boy look at the little lads smile. I hope he’s thinking “One day that’s going to be me”.
They'll get better aswell with the confidence that a performance like that will give them. As you say,not getting carried away though. This is a brutal league and we will have our downs as well as our ups. It'll be interesting to see if RLB selects the same side for Burnley, instead of bringing Browne straight back in. Hoping Mayenda gets loads from yesterday too.
If Browne is fit and ready for the Burnley game, who do you think starts in the midfield? Usually you'd lean on experience when it comes to decisions like this, though after a 4-0 win you'd have to make a good case if you're going to change the lineup. I honestly think with RLB that age isn't a factor and simply the players ability and capacity to carry out instructions are the main factors for selection. Who starts against Burnley, Riggler or Browne?
Can't wait for next Saturday, If we play like we did yesterday we will give them a proper game. I would be more than happy to see the same starting 11, competition for the midfield 3 is very high now and anyone playing or coming in has to play very well to keep the shirt
And this is the same side that drifted towards the last 3 months of last season, barring Cerkin being back. Shows how much impact RLB has had on these lads.
How brilliant that there's provably about 4 MOTM contenders. Think people get carried away as well with our depth. Not only did we have Ballard, Browne and Poveda to come in, but you can't tell me there's not more who can contribute this season. I'm talking Mundle, Aouchiche, Triantis even. Seelt and Huggins to come back from injury. We do need to add to this squad, but not much. This squad will develop furthermore.
For me its simple, Rigg Jobe n Neil start - the 3 of them were that good yesterday Browne will be quality for us this season n im 1 of his biggest fans but he will have a fight on his hands if those 3 keep those performances up (we know theyll have a dip as thats natural in the championship)
Looking back now, Jobe played a lot like his brother yesterday - he seemed to be everywhere and bullied their midfielders. Had another great game
The challenge is to manage against a low block and concentrate on when we lose possession to a counter. . They came at us yesterday and I think teams who do that will get a beating .. once we sort that I think we are very close to a top end team . great to watch yesterday ..
Was sent this last night… I seriously don’t know anyone on here or any other forum… or any of my Sunderland supporting friends who actually have said, suggested or even brought this up as an idea
The midfield was simply superb yesterday. Haven't seen us control a game like that for all but the first few minutes since the days of McCann, Schwarz and Hutchison. Cirkin also gives us so much more solidity. A good centre forward added to this group and a top 6 position is possible. Bellingham looks to have really kicked on too which is encouraging, as is the confidence boost Mayenda will have gotten.
Great game yesterday, great to wake up after such a great result. My only gripe is with the referee not handling their big center back diving and pretending to get fouled after our players beat him to the ball. Onwards and upwards.
Definitely. It’s all Speakmans fault. If he hadn’t signed such utter dross we wouldn’t have won that game.
