What a fantastic day! Went to the game with my son in law and took him to the new Sheepfolds. Great venue and a fantastic setting for pre match refreshments.
Then onto the game itself. A complete team performance and not enough superlatives to describe the quality we displayed today. Being reading some of the player ratings and with 4 or 5 players getting 9/10 it just shows you how well we played. Rigg was my MOM. What a performance from someone as young as he is. Special mention for RLB as well. I don’t know what you have done or said to the team in the short time you’ve been here but it’s definitely working. Hope you’ve all had a fantastic day and enjoyed it as much as me

Jobe impressed me so much today (and pretty much everyone on here), so thought id look at his stats on wyscout

He only misplaced 4 passes all game
    Had 8 interceptions
    12 ball recoveries
And he won 71% of his defensive duels

All really impressive stats that back up the eye test, a very mature performance from him - the lad could be a beast for us this season

And he seems very happy here, all the players do. There is something positive going on at the club and I'm not just meaning results on the pitch, obviously the most important part but what is clear that the players like the club and what is happening we have tied down players that could easily have went elsewhere. That wouldn't happen at a club where things weren't right behind the scenes for them!

I've always backed Roberts and today shows why. All that's missing is a goal from his 1st 2 games. Almost had a couple.

Just watched the highlights there and hadn’t noticed but Cirkin has added some beef.

Not fat, like he looks athletic as ****. He was a bit gangley when we signed I’m sure.

    Might help reduce the knocks.

    So many tremendous performances.
Can’t remember Patto having a save to make.

I’d love it if we could keep Cirkin and Alese fit throughout the season.

Cirkin adds a different dimension to our game in both boxes.

Second goal of the season for 09.

Baby faces running the show in midfield, Rigg superb and so composed at 17, Neil settling into the captaincy, but Jobe man, he was ridiculously good.

Paddy is getting back to the form of two years ago, Clarke was good but within himself and they couldn’t deal with Mayenda who relished mixing it with their centre backs.

Congratulations to all of the lads and RLB and the back room team, long may it continue.

What a performance, massively impressed. How on earth can a 17 and 18 year old be so good in midfield at this level, it’s bloody mental.

Might have already been said, but Cirkin is the best left back in the league bar none in my eyes

I had assumed Reg had arrived with a raft of set piece ideas and had them implemented right away, we hadn't taken a decent set piece in years before he arrived. Seems like it's down to Proctor though and as you say Reggie's role must have been to listen to him and give him a crack at it.

Baffling that we could have an expert on the staff and nobody listened to him for years but I'm not saying I don't believe it.

It helped the opposition feel comfortable in the game knowing damn well we were never going to score from a set piece, they'll be nervous now.

Before the game the pundits were on about how interference is rife behind the scenes at Sunderland, as far as I'm concerned that's just a negative take on the DoF doing his job. Probably mates with a couple of our ex coaches who were disgruntled about not having unlimited freedom.

Another real positive today were the post match interviews, particularly from the players (09, Cirkin and Mayenda are the ones I’ve seen so far).

Obviously, all three were chuffed with the win, but, it was very measured. It was also mentioned that the lads are back in tomorrow and will spend time looking at what they need to improve on.

RLB mentioned that we should enjoy today but back to work tomorrow. Good management and exactly what is needed in a young squad and it’s clear the lads are enjoying it and buying into what he’s trying to implement.

None of our recent ex-managers have covered themselves in glory since they left ...

... Neil was give total control and almost took Stoke down.

I'm sure he hasn't stopped moaning about Speakman since he walked out and laughed at us.

Missed the game due to being at a long standing family 50th wedding anniversary party but gave a massive cheer on our table when was told we had gone 3-0 up <laugh>
When I got back home watched the full 90 minutes and apart from the first 5 or so minutes we were superb and in control.
Like you I liked the way we hunted in packs and there was an instance in the 90th minute where we did that and made the keeper rush his kick and my first thought was, "last minute 4-0 up and we are chasing the ball like that " - brilliant.
I also liked Regis interview when he said we have many talented players, for example our striker but that he would find plenty of things to improve on - quitely giving players confidence but not going to let anyone rest on their laurels at the same time. Have a good feeling about him.
