Few beers in so late to the thread (cheers RTB). What do you say about that? The team is looking like their real selves. First 10 mins was a bit nervy but after that the press was outstanding. Mayenda needed his goals (this first was class), he’s not ready to lead the line for the season imo but he’s an asset for the future and more importantly this season. Man of the match was Rigg for me, a truly special talent and the words Man City go through my mind with him. But I need to say paddy Roberts was outstanding, jobe especially second half looked like a season pro, it’s a joke he’s 18. Finally Dennis cirkin, we need him in a freezer until game day because this lad makes this team go up another level. We need a good back up for him. What a start and can’t wait to see us go up against a tough challenge in Burnley. Well done RLB keep it up!
On our day we can match any team in the league however, we still need to improve the depth of the squad to challenge for top 6 (but then again loads of teams will be saying the same)
Made a point of watching us defend in the second half and from the Roker End you could see the whole of the team moving from side to side to react to Sheff Wed moving the ball side to side. Not one player decided to break formation and they acted like a team. Was seriously interesting to watch
Did the same against Cardiff last week you can see the players really trust that the system works. Lose the ball wingers tuck right in and one midfielder Jobe this week drops deep alongside Neil Very difficult to break down
I've followed Sunderland since 81 and I've never seen us defend like that before. Yes we've defended tightly at times but this was different. You can see what RLB is doing in training
Honestly the early part of this season has me wondering if we’ve just been starved of high quality coaching for so much of my life as a MLF. The identity and structure is like nothing I can remember seeing. Very early days but miles ahead of the vibes-based tactics of Mowbray and whatever the hell Beale and Dodds were serving up.
Their fans seem a little disappointed on their forum "Sunderland have been nowhere near as good as we were last Sunday but Sky are to$$ing themselves off. TBH Sunderland have been clinical nothing more. And you can put as many laughing emojis as you want to this post."
Have we peaked too early . That was close to perfection. PS, I put my usual silly bet on 5-0 to the cuddlies. The useless c*nts. RLB out I say .
The Cirkin again. I know, I am a big fan, but he really is the boyo isn't he ? I don't see any weakness at all.
