MLS is very comparable to the Championship now, certainly in terms of player quality, maybe less so in terms of competition and intensity.
Source is the same one that told me we were close to doing a deal for Cifuentes. He also told me Defoe was on his way back 2 weeks before the deal was announced. He wins some, he loses some, but I believe him.
People would say that the MLS and any other league for that matter is whatever they want it to be based on their agenda at the time and not ever base their statement on facts.
Standard in MLS has massively improved mind, there’s a lot of quality there now. They will never get it right without promotion and relegation though, that’s why national team remains pipe.
Some suggest our valuation of Mendy is based on his contract to June 2026. £1m or £10K a week ? Sounds good guesswork ? See Caen are working on a replacement ? Yesterday 17th. Posted this on the match day thread but thought I would here too Really encouraging from Mayenda. A lot of people didn’t want to see that Mayenda had something about him due to the frustration of the CF situation. But all pre-season and these two games it’s clear to see there’s something there with his movement, pressing etc. his first goal was a lovely striker and the second we wouldn’t have seen last season. Right place, right time which is what we have needed for strikers. I’d like us to still get one senior striker in but let mayenda be the backup. I wouldn’t want to block his pathway after a performance like that
Many would like us to buy 2 x strikers but after Mayender today it looks like we’ve already got one of them. That could mean we can spend a higher sum on one better striker. It’s like instead of buying 2 x £2million strikers we can get 1 x £4million striker. Don’t know what funds we have but you get my point.
He took both chances very well, this definitely eases the pressure on the striker situation. Not going to go as far as saying we don't need one now, but the shirt is his to lose.
We still 100% need a senior one, as it’ll help Mayenda develop too and take some pressure off. But I wouldn’t be signing 2 and blocking his path
Matty Young was at the game today. In the YouTube video talking to RLB. I imagine we’re not happy with him being second choice at Salford. Interesting he was here
Absolutely. But I was under the impression we sent him there with guarantees because the club rates him very highly. like I say just interesting he was pictured in and around the dressing room today
Missed all of that today ffs. My lass’s da’s passed back end this week Anyone care to give me an update on today’s game / transfer news. I think the last post I made was about everything feeling better when Mayenda bagged 2, wish I’d put a bet on
We absolutely tactically outclassed Wednesday from start to finish. Nullified then playing out, then nullified them playing long. They didn’t have a chance.
Very quiet mate. im expecting Bennette, hemir, pembele, Anderson to be away within the next week and a half.
