Oh I know we conceded first, I more meant the desire to fight back. Like yesterday, we also conceded first but were motivated to chase the game.
I think people are forgetting, TW has had 7 weeks (thats seven) weeks with these players... some he is still having to take off the nicotine of the previous coaching. Some who cant get off it won't feature. He's had to do it whilst shipping out is it 21 players and having to work with those still contracted while new additions arrived, new additions that will make us a much better all around team. It might take another two windows to get to where we need to be.
Rosenior seemed able to turn them around much quicker from Shota, but I do accept getting teams to defend better is 'easier' than getting them to attack better. It's why I'm a bit surprised we haven't gone harder to bring in some of Walter's old players who'd already be familiar with his style. Maybe if we're looking ok in January we'll do exactly that.
I keep hearing Tim has had then for 7 weeks, but tbf to him he has had quite a few for only a few days, we got to give him a chance to mould them.
I dont worry about the owner at all. In fact, he seems to have taken a back seat and allowed the club to be run how many would like to see it run. He's running the club (this season especially) it seems in a manner which allows us not to be in trouble financially. We are recruiting, again it seems, players who are on longer contracts whose value will increase during their time here. Acun has been nothing but brilliant for this club and if it wasn't for his public persona, this bashing of him by some wouldn't happen.
Do absolutely agree on this, he's brought in a lot more permanents this summer which is what a lot had hoped would happen last season, so can't complain too much about the shift in approach!
Some people do post some ****e, then a week or two later post absolute ****e but in the completely opposite way.
I thought Simons was poor yesterday, he was the prime passer-back to the goalie at times and seemed to get into a negative mindset - was surprised he wasn’t hooked. Notable that nearly all of Pandur’s supposed blunders were when trying to pass to Xavi, who seemed to be quite un-alert at times. I think that’s what was going wrong often. Baffled that Millwall is being painted by some as some sort of pivotal game. It’s just the next game and if we make some progress I’ll be happy. I didn’t expect any wins in August anyway so if we make it three draws that be alright.
Most of Pandurs blunders were when he passed straight to a Plymouth player, as opposed to one of his own team.
It's not pivotal for anything other than a reflection on how these opening fixtures have played out. I wasn't suggesting it matters any more than that. After the Millwall game the window closes prior to the Leeds game, so it's essentially the last of this patch of games where we don't have all our signings in the building.
I just don't like that we are losing points against considerably weaker sides, because we were not ready. Parachute teams will follow after these games, season is long but we need 3 points from such games for playoffs.
Hughes 100% will start Milwall. Wouldn't be surprised with other CBs being touted that the plan is Jones to 3rd choice, maybe even 4th choice behind Burns. You Ull.
Yepp, some on here, are a bit delusional, (see some of the score predictions). Expecting us to go there and beat them easily, mainly because they got thumped at Wednesday...Football doesn't work like that. It never has..
A video of the goal from yesterday just popped up on my Twitter feed. Absolutely superb effort from Coyle, from start to finish. And the way he just runs back to our half wanting the team to get straight back at it to go after a winner. We could do with 11 Coyle's as far as effort & attitude goes.
I think this is revisionist. Amount of times I saw from LR and on social media his system would take time to implement. His early days of stopping the rot involved us sitting in a low 442 block which isn’t a dramatically hard thing to learn for a footballer
At this stage last season we’d conceded double the amount of goals we have now… 2 against arguably the worst championship team (at the time) the league has seen
Yeah I did qualify in a post after the one you've quoted that getting a team defending better is a lot easier than getting a team attacking well. I agree it will take Walter time, and it's why I questioned why we haven't brought in some of his former generals to bed the system in a bit quicker.
