I agree about Will Mannion - I think we have seen enough so far for him to warrant a run in the team. I wouldn’t spend funds on another keeper before January. Apart from BB - who’s opinion doesn’t count - very few CAFC wanted Alfie May to leave. He has already scored 2 goals in 2 games for Birmingham. He guarantees goals at this level. I see our old friend the Global Moderator is playing the game of “but you can’t rate Alfie May and rate his replacement Ahadme”. Of course you can. I am happy to heap praise on Ahadme once he has scored 23 goals in 43 appearances for us like Alfie May did.
Just to be clear to a certain visitor on this site we were 0-0 until the 92nd minute, we didn’t have a shot until the 30th minute- I’d call that smash and grab - but then I’m a realist and only support one side
To be fair, it sounds like he’s had a hellish task trying to get out of Wrexham today. Although having to spend the day there must be even worse.
We're OK in defense, midfield is a work in progress, but Docherty isn’t a 10, Campbell isn’t a striker and Ahadme so far looks like another Ipswich dud. Everyone seems to agree that he works hard but his job is to score goals and from what I have seen defenders find him very easy to handle.
A Wrexham supporter says the following. A well known clown elsewhere says Ahadme is not an improvement on Alfie May!! Somebody else says todays win was a reall smash and grab!! Oh dear. Gary Nelson says I mean, they’re not far wrong. Despite our control of the ball, we created no clear cut chances and were lucky with the ball falling to Berry the way it did (the defender knocked it away from Coventry and into Betty’s path) Ahadme has done very little in the two league games, but you can argue he’s had very little to go off. I still hope he will come good, but he’s not an upgrade on May If we can get 2-3 attacking players who are comfortable running forward with the ball as opposed to playing it sideways or backwards then we can build on our solid defensive displays and be genuine contenders
I agree with your summary @Dick Plumb1 2/3 creative players still needed. As for “Global” …we all know he secretly loves this forum, and finds it more interesting than his own. He’d love us all to join ITTV - it would be like souping up a clapped out Reliant Robin with a Lamborghini’s engine. Global loves giving us a little poke on here - but he is guaranteed to get one back when he does
On Ahadme, it is far too soon to judge, but early impressions are that we have replaced a prolific fox in the box (May) with a striker who plays with his back to goal, and wants the ball crossed in to him - difficult when you are a side that doesn’t play with wingers. Docherty & Berry both looked decent today at what they do - Coventry continues to underwhelm, there must be a better player in there than what we have seen to date. Ramsey was my MOM.
Someone needs to tell Coventry he can move the ball forward or if he knows that already he needs to grow a pair and be braver on the ball. he also needs to be pulled from taking corners
It is too early to judge Ahadme but I’m gonna anyway, what I was expecting is a Mark Hatley type player commanding in the air and first to the cross. To do that we need a nippy Shaun Newton style winger and/or a good dead ball deliverer. Unless we get that I think the lad is not gonna flourish. I’d love to transplant my ex wife’s hamstrings on Aneke as I do think that he if fit, he can tear L1 apart
Someone have a link to a good summary of CAFC's ownership/managerial switcheroo since Roland came in. Have a mate who is an Arsenal fan who needs a reality check on what goes on in the real football world, not just watching millions and personalities move around all year
