No worries, we are in the Prem whilst you will be battling it out to stay in the championship. Now run along back to your EDL mates, sure you've got a riot to start somewhere!!

    Afternoon chaps
thought you were the better team in first half and could easily have been 1 up though by the same token how Burns got away with that handball not being a yellow is beyond me. In the 2nd you seemed to sit off us and allowed us to play thru you .
Best of luck for the rest of season .

Finally got to watch us play for the first time ever (since I hopped on the bandwagon back in 2018), so it was a nice experience. Unfortunately, I had issues registering/paying for it and only got to see the second half....so I missed out on our better performance in the beginning. But a nice experience nonetheless, and I look forward to the next match.

Proud of the boys today,we stuck to our principles and were beaten by that extra bit of quality that comes with being one of the biggest Clubs in the world.
A few more recruits and we'll be able to give a good account of ourselves in this Division.
Impressed with Greaves, who put his body on the line several times,Delap looks a good alternative to Hirst and Smodics will get better when he's had some time at Playford Road with KMc.

    Onwards and upwards.

I saw enough in the game to think we'll be alright this season. The lads have got the Premier League debut nerves out of the way now and we'll get better.

Greaves was excellent, I still think Hutch is better on the right than through the middle but we'll see how that pans out. Thought the ref was a tad biased on the yellow card count but overall the officiating was decent.

Totally agree re Hutchinson, sorry but he is a better right winger than Burns, can't move him to accommodate Burns.

I know it’s only 1 game but Greaves looks like a fantastic buy. Considering Walton hasn’t played for so long, thought he was decent too. My 2 main worries are Luongo and Chaplin - think we could be seeing Phillips & SS before tong. All in all, we certainly weren’t outclasses and long term, think we might be ok this season

Today felt like an FA cup tie, the plucky lower league team holding their own and running themselves into the ground first half then the higher level team stepping up second half and the other teams levels dropping second half. I'm perhaps being a little bit harsh as our pressing and movement was superb. And despite Liverpool being a bit off the pace their press was just at a level we weren't used to even first half and we did well to break it.

I was surprised Tuanzebe started ahead of Johnson but thought he had one of his best games at RB for us. I also thought defensively through the centre we were pretty strong all game, Greaves was outstanding (feel sorry for Burgess) and Wolfenden held his own. It was from wide positions that there really was an issue. Davis got caught out far too many times, I think that was a mixture of him making mistakes, him being asked to play how he does and also being up against a world class player. I also felt we looked a little more open down the right when Burns went off with the LB being given a bit more license to get forwards. Even though Burns didn't do too much today and I don't think we played him in enough, you could see by the runs he was making that Robertson was worried about him and that kept him pegged back. I know many on here think Hutchinson would be a better option than Burns on the right but after watching Burns for the past 3 years when he's not in the team we're always worse for it. He's so important for the team, the physicality he brings to the role and his ability to get in behind gives us more options and provides others with more space than putting Hutchinson out there.

If Burns is to be out through injury or lose his place to Hutchinson we need another player in the forward line with that physicality and ability to get in behind. The majority of our forwards don't have that ability and without a player like Burns in the team can condense the space.

I felt we let the occasion get to us a few times today but that is also just the difference in quality. First half the decision making wasn't poor just slightly off the pace, our passing was a little off and maybe some of that was down to match fitness. There were a few occasions where we got into good attacking areas where we overhit a pass slightly or didn't hit a shot cleanly or strayed offside. I think with a little more match fitness and perhaps a little less adrenaline we could have been ahead in the first half or even the first 10 mins of the second. But it was like after the VAR decision checking offside for a penalty the wind came out of our sails and we were sliced open again and again and again. Once we went one down we tried what we've done the past few seasons and went for it but the step up in quality was obvious and we just got picked off and were far too open.

I don't think any of the players had bad games there was times where we just had a few lapses, especially Davis who let Salah get away a few too many times (even in the first half). I thought whilst it worked first half we were playing a risky game where we were getting touch tight on players, first half anytime we didn't win the ball we usually gave away a foul which meant we had to defend a freekick rather than Liverpool being able to break into the space, that didn't happen 2nd half.

Big shout out to Walton, who I don't think put a foot wrong after last playing in League 1. Whilst he's clearly not as good as Hladky and Muric with his feet, he's no donkey in that department and I think gives the backline a bit of a presence as he's always great at sweeping things up, and I think his decision making coming off his line is usually spot on. Part of me hopes considering how he dropped out of the team he gets his chance this season.

Clearly we need to get the new players up to speed and get some more players particularly in forward areas. Whilst Harness and Taylor are half decent, we didn't really have that explosive impact off the bench in those forward positions we saw last season where McKenna would often bring a triple change (Hutchinson, Sarmiento and Al Hamadi). Whether Al Hamadi is good enough to come in should we get an injury I'm not sure but I really like the look of him as an impact player, he certainly can cause problems.
