First game of season away to newly promoted team who are bang up for it and we’re not playing link prime Barcelona.. who’d have thought. Said yesterday, today is a get through and take a scrappy 1-0 if you can. No manager has team after a disrupted pre season playing how they want on day 1. Just have to be patient.
Our passing is utterly crap. The speed of pass is not there and the risks stupid as a result. Gravenberch wins ball clean from behind. Free. They nail jota from.behind. nothing.
I i were their manager I'd be telling ground staff to not water the pitch. They are doing just fine as it is. If I were slot I'd say put an extra yard of pace on the ball and go longer to salah and push up diaz. The ball will hold up on this pitch today.
Have to be patient but it's utter ****. Playing out like this will never work in the PL it will not work, quality opposition will murder us.
Tactically Slot has been figured out here - There are aspects where on another day we'd have hurt Ipswich but it's the first gane so passing and cohesion isn't there yet Will be interesting to see how Slot manages this, as we do have options on the bench to change things.
So which is it, lack of cohesion from a new system/manager or being found out? Personally, I think it's the cohesion and the players not feeling that they know what to do. It's not instinctual for them yet.
Slot wants to dominate the midfield. But once the full backs are narrow then the are being cluttered by a very narrow press. If you look at us up the park we are also quite narrow and have the same 4. The cb passing has been rank as well. But there is acres of space wide so it takes just a small bit of game intelligence to get the full backs wider and find the space down both lines. So far nothing happening there. Robbomis extremely slow to play it and taking extra touches. Slot wont like that. salah has been in but every touch has been poor.
Pretty poor so far not sure I will be able to cope with this messing about at the back tactic. Hopefully it clicks in a couple of weeks
still a lot of work to be done on the passing out from the back particularly concerning body position and patterns of passing
Ipswich have looked at our preseason tapes and figured it out.we are taking far too long to move it at the back though so their 4 have ample time to standing place.
Power supply has just been turned back on…..completely missed the first half and sounds like I didn’t miss much. Season starts now for me
Maybe. I think its praise for the Ipswich manager (Manc or not) more than anything. The pitch is definitely slow but that's no excuse for the slowness of passing. Step this up and show us that slot has put a rocket up them
45 mins into the season and slot has been found out and we’re doomed… going to be fun on here if we don’t win 100% of games.
