A fourth bid in from the Mags for Guehi £60m + £5m in add ons. Likely to be rejected according to Sky. Fair play to Palace, holding firm
If Caen wanted to buy him they wouldn't pay more than €1.5m ... ... fair play to Sunderland for not caving in as we've done so often in the past. Yes, we could easily pay another million but what if he doesn't fit ad he's sitting on a three year contract with no resale value.
We keep hearing that Speakman and the coaches are useless, arrogant and divisive ... ... our players must be terrible judges of character when so many supporters can clearly see the reality.
Difficult this one mate. We need him,or someone like him, pdq. He's not likely to have much resale value anyway, given his age, and, however much we pay for him,he has to fit....we can't afford another striker failure.... we have to be as sure as we can ever be about him. I don't want us to cave in either....given our past history,we know what that can mean, but, unless we have another ready to go option, we need to get this deal done.
Should offer £1.5m with another £1m if we get promotion. Sometimes it pays to forget about resale value and think of the main objective.
Pal of mine just said he’s heard a few agreed for Mendy. He has no history positive or negative for inside info. Ha’way the scarf pic though…
Or we are tying down the best young talent in the league on long term contracts before we bring our strikers in. That’s investment as well people don’t recognise that.
I'll be disappointed to see him go (whenever that may be) but if it's the right deal for the club so be it.
Jobe just needs to tell Jude to hold Mbappe gently by the throat and sqeeze until the Mendy deal is given the thumbs up.
I don’t think they have that much money tbf, they’d be spending the entire outlay they got for Summerville on Clarke.
My fear with Clarke isn’t selling him. It’s a club he wants to move to coming in with a low offer and him going on strike / putting transfer request in. Now I don’t think it will happen. But I wouldn’t put it past Harte to manufacture something like that. He tried it a few windows back with the “Clarke is disillusioned at Sunderland” comments the day before deadline day.
I get that either the club are trying to make an impression with him or vice versa ... ... either way it's a bit silly from them.
They owed out £193million in unpaid transfer fees. That’s precisely why Summerville was sold, Not to finance a replacement for the same ballpark money.
I think SAFC are a bit more savvy with agents, etc, than they used to be. We've been fair with our players, such as Evans, and won't prevent players progressing ... ... but that has to work both ways, Harte isn't smarter than the club imo.
