Another day and other youth on loan.

Scanlon being linked with Bristol Rovers. I think this would be a good move for him but potentially leaves us short as there's literally nothing left bar a 17 year old and gomez.

Scanlon won't learn any more in u21s and it doesn't look like slot is interested for ecl or cups.

Good move for him. Gain some experience, providing they actually play him and bring that experience back with him to see if he's a real contender.

    Sure.

If they don't play him in league 1 and the club hasn't got him a minimum number of games then he will suffer for it but it's in his own hands now.

I hear slot has an attitude where children at the club (yes all the way down) are to be addressed as adults and spoken to as such (in the usual profession way).

If he considers thr adults then if they can't cope out on loan I presume he's then judging that.

Didn’t Quansah go there as well? Not sure if same manager but if so you’d hope might be a good early sign at least

Case of a perfect storm and right place right time.

Happened to get his loan, lfc happened to implode at cm.and finish 5th so there was a europa campaign to be available le for and then just happened that players were also unfit (full backs giving gomez a different role and konate)

He grabbed that chance with both hands.

Of the current youth /u-21’s is Slot being savvy with these player leaving or is he ruining what Klopp did /created?

I'm really not sure what the fuss is about with the departure of the youth players.

Apart from trent how many have broken through in the last 5/10 years and cemented a regular first team place?

Of the players getting gone, who exactly did we have really high hopes for?

Youth football is a conveyer belt, there's always the next crop coming through. The ones who arnt going to make it at the club get sold. It happens every year.

    I don't understand why it's suddenly a big deal.

That's the $64m question isn't it. Loans are good for players who are knocking on the door but not quite there. As always, providing they get decent playing time, it gives them the opportunity to show they are ready for the next more physical step up.

I think we've got a really good little group of players who are ready for cup games or as late substitutes in the league. I can't remember the last time we had such a special talented little group, it rarely happens. Klopp's management team clearly saw something that Slot's isn't.

Or as is well known klopp got over attached to certain players and hung on to them hoping they'd make the grade for by far to long?

Senior players, yes, but we're talking about the youngsters ready to make the step up. How many of those did he hang on to for too long?

Depends what you call hanging on.

Williams is certainly one but we are talking more about players getting extra contracts so there was glatzl who was badly injured and there was the German lad who was the same. There's a few who saw out their initial contracts like Adam.lewis as well.

It's hard to call on youths as they are given a deal at 17/18 and can be hard to shift but get left in the u21s and out of sight.

In general I remember klopp coming in and having a general cull as the numbers were far too high but we have more when the left thst we ever did.

I can’t say I watch any of our under 21 games so only got first team to go on.

out of all of them, Clark prob the closest but he was 4 or 5th choice in his position so was never going to get much game time. The rest?

McConnell didn’t really show anything in the first team games to put him above mac gravenberch Endo Bajcetic.

Danns looked ok, but won’t get in ahead of Jota Nunez at Cf when have gakpo that can cover there as well.

Same with koumas and Gordon, isn’t ousting any of the current players we have.

So based on below 1st and 2nd team. Which of the ‘youngsters’ is getting into the squad ahead of that 2nd team especially as can only have 9 players on bench and not the whole 11?

    Ali
    taa Quansah vvd robbo
    mac grav
    Salah szobo diaz
    jota

    kellher
    bradley gomez Konate tsimikas
    endo bajcetic
    eliott Nyoni jones
    nunez

The cup games were given over to the youngsters under Klopp, until the latter stages and even further sometimes. We don't know Slot's philosophy on this yet. Most likely it's completely different but as I said, some of the u21's are good enough for cup and late subs. Nobody is saying any of them are first or second choice or ahead of any first team players, as per your example of Danns not being ahead of Jota and Nunez.?? Not sure why you're saying that.

You said they were good squad players. You can have 20 players in a match day squad. So which are you putting danns mcconnell doak Gordon Morton ahead of anyone of those 22 man 11’s posted above? If not, then they aren’t squad players.
