The other possibilities for the loan slot are:

    - Goalkeeper
    - Winger
    - Creative / attacking central midfield

I’d be surprised if the loan was for the winger although there have been rumours of Doak from Liverpool.

So assuming there are still four more incomings it’s 1/4 that one of the loans goes on another striker. But with BBD, Armstrong and Stewart I would have thought the other positions all take precedence? Especially if the wide player can also play as a central attacker - even though as you say there isn’t a lot of hold up play in what I have listed

I did originally think we'd use a loan spot for a GK, and we still might, but I'm basing it now on our lack of funds and the fact that striker is the most expensive position to fill and if we are paying out relatively big money (for us) on Archer, we are unlikely to pay out again for another striker. I would have hoped that Armstrong being pretty anonymous in RMs system as the striker in the Championship means we wouldn't play him there in the PL. BBD is an option though and is taller and stronger looking so may work. Though that would leave us with very little on the left. But as you say, hopefully we are still bringing in a winger too. We really shouldn't be considering Stewart as an option either, and if he can play a part at any point this season it's a bonus. We have also been linked to buying a GK so presumably we are open to buying one and not loan or nothing.

I still think we need a good LWB if KWP is going.

Looking at his goals, he could be good for the old THB ball over the top. Appears to have pace and power. We might need that outlet!

He'll be wasted as a winger. You look at his goals, and half of them come from him using his pace through the middle running on to through balls. His pace will be very handy off the ball as well, pressing the opposition. Lack of pace and running was what made Che a bit invisible, and easy to handle for defenders. And while Archer might not hold the ball up as well as Che, I don't think we'll need that so much playing against high defences. We will need pace, and more pace.

Archer also looks like he has much better composure than Che/Adarma.

Exactly this. And I think Smallbone will enjoy having a runner too.

Yeah,we all know we've been lacking pace, and having that at the fulcrum could be a gamechanger given he style we play.

I would still really like a proper number 9 that can hold the ball up to come in.

But they’re so difficult to find.

15mil in this market for a young PL striker that can finish is great business if true.
