Right kids, can we alll just play nice? Thread is very important to the board, I’ve been working tonight (gigging) so literally just home to find this. Don’t want to lock the thread but I will if need be. have a sleep and see how you feel in the morning. Will stop people posting on it if it keeps getting derailed like this
What the **** has gone on here? About 5 pages of absolute pap since I last looked and none of it about transfers.
Clarke ain't going anywhere unless we get £18 million and the squad will not improve until we get 2 or 3 senior players added, and that's not gonna happen. FFS we won't even pay a micky mouse club, micky mouse money for a micky mouse CF, or his agents fee's. I'm trying to think in a positive way, but I can't. We are a young team with a DOF who thinks he is right all the time. Last season proved he ain't.
Signing his own death warrant if we end the season without a experienced striker mate. Even the most positive Sunderland fan will be unhappy.
Not much has changed since the end of last season tbh. Added a head coach(jury is out on him TBF) and retained some good players. The worry is we were displaying relegation form with Dodds and Proctor - they are still around the first team on a match day, which is astounding imo.
You'll get no arguement from me on those 2. My worry was that they would still be here, in the most senior assistant roles, and they are. But that's for the other thread. I like Browne. Think that's a great signing. However that's it. Poveda is really a shot in the dark given his record of injuries and fitness. Plus he will be benched unless one of our wingers are sold. We need to be active in the market. Great experience needed.
Signing his own death warrant if we end this TRANSFER WINDOW without an experienced striker in my opinion.
Have to agree that it won’t be good. Every other post about Sunderland online in reply is about a striker and it’s tedious to the extreme. if we leave the transfer window with just Mayenda and Rusyn it’s going to be a challenge !
Good players would have struggled back then mate. The whole club had given up, the ethos is driven from the top and when the owner couldn’t give a **** it runs like blood through everyone else
Can’t even see any arguing but I can guess who. Bliss that ignore button. Canny lad at times and a lot care about him but can’t just turn on people. Anyway we move on hopefully. We’re not at the end of the window yet. I think that there were positive signs getting Browne in. He makes us more competitive. We need the equivalent up top now and we all know it, with a bit of added depth and competition in that same position. Goals. I’d imagine Speakman knows it. I’d agree that if he doesn’t land it he’s in bother. I’m very surprised he didn’t fill that first because his life would be easier if he had. Here’s hoping - but let’s not turn it into a RTG thread.
This next two weeks will say it all about the ambition of the club. I don’t like comparing but look at say boro and cov, signing strikers when already having good ones at the club. Is that because they’ve had good sales recently? Do we need a good sale to kick on?
I think our value on him and robust rejection of low ball bids has put some people off who felt we might be a push over and jump at the first sight of some cash. they’ve moved elsewhere as they reckon they can get better value elsewhere as I think is the case with Ipswich and Szmodics. im sure the club are still preparng themselves for a late bid as it seems everyone is having to sell before they can buy…..just hope if he does go that we have our plans in place and can move quickly
