Excellent. Honestly think that's best for all parties. We could do with the cash, Mara needs to play and develop but is clearly well down the pecking order here and hopefully he improves Strasbourg's side.
Something to note about Mara, The money brought in is pure profit. Also the remaining payments out of Saints for his signature sre null in void. Because Bordeaux no longer exist.
That would be great, if it is permanent. Also worth noting Strasbourg are also owned by Todd Boehly's group, so maybe the Mara and Ugochuwku stuff is semi-linked
To be fair I don’t know if the amount he is held at in the books gets written down if we never need to pay the full amount. We might be able to make that case. Would be a weird one but football accounting is Profit and pure profit aren’t really different things. It’s just “pure profit” is a made up football term for players recognised at zero value due to being homegrown - so it’s 100% profit on any sale. It’s such an insane system as it discourages clubs from keeping homegrown players. Not from developing them - that is important still
And Steven Davis from the same league. And Celtic infact seem to be about the only club we have a more or less 100% success rate of signing players from.
Wow lots of new rumours in one evening! Hope they come to fruition. Mara and hopefully eventually ABK out, Archer and some promising Chelsea youth DM in would be some big steps in the right direction after several weeks of nothing. Hopefully can actually get these over the line...
I don't think is quite true. I am no legal/financial expert, and laws will vary in France, but we will likely still have to pay an administrator or something similar. I doubt the debt will just be wiped clean. Other clauses like sell on and after international caps etc could well be qiped though.
I have a few villa mates as work for a midlands based company. They rate him very highly and think he’ll end up better than Watkins. Said he’ll do a lot better in a team playing our way than what Sheffield United did. Also that he’s a good lad who will work hard for the team. They’re a bit gutted that it’s a permanent deal, and news up there is that he’s already down south having his medical?
Hopefully ABK out goes through today too. That is taking time considering the medical is usually the final step. I get they would have wanted information/reassurances on the heart operation etc. but given that was apparently a known quantity that isn't a new issue, you wouldn't have thought that it would delay things by multiple days as it seems to have done.
